Consultant as Energy Research Analyst - Energy Program

This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our office in WRI Indonesia, Jakarta. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission as WRI is unable to sponsor any visa work sponsorship for this position.

Program Overview

WRI Indonesia’s Energy and Sustainability Business (ESB) Portfolio works to advance reliable, clean energy while reducing carbon emissions and supporting economic development. Recognizing the interconnected nature of economic, social, and environmental goals, the program collaborates across disciplines, including with WRI’s cities, climate, and ocean teams to integrate low-carbon technologies, quantitative models, and policy tools. These efforts align with national priorities such

as accelerating Indonesia’s net-zero targets by 2050 for industry and 2060 for the broader economy.

We are focusing our advocacy through a demand-driven approach, gathering insights directly from companies to inform analysis and influence policy. To capture these demand voices, we have established two key platforms. The first is the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA), a public-private partnership that helps commercial and industrial energy consumers, especially large buyers, to meet their clean electricity and heat needs through policy advocacy, business model innovation,

and financing mechanisms. CEIA has engaged more than 55 companies to date. The second is the KADIN Net Zero Hub, operated under the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, which empowers businesses of all sizes to commit to and implement science-based targets (SBTi) and net-zero strategies. To date, the KADIN Net Zero Hub has engaged more than 80 companies to date. Both platforms serve as critical vehicles for amplifying private sector voices and turning them into

concrete action toward Indonesia’s energy transition.
