Job Title: Partnerships Associate, Boston

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Duration: 3-month contract with possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment

Role Overview

RLC is seeking a results-driven Partnerships Associate to grow our food donor program in Boston. This role is focused on generating revenue by finding new food donors — specifically corporate cafeterias, companies with regular catering, grocery retailers, and large-scale food manufacturers.

This role will involve both cold outreach and converting warm connections — such as former colleagues, clients, or professional contacts — with success coming from leveraging established trust and relationships to drive engagement and revenue.

  • A strong candidate will have an existing network to leverage, as well as a proven track record of outreach via email, phone calls, in-person events, and digital channels such as LinkedIn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize partnership opportunities within your existing network, focusing on corporate food donors in Boston
  • Conduct outreach to warm and cold contacts to introduce RLC's food rescue and corporate volunteer programs
  • Manage the full sales cycle: outreach, discovery meetings, follow-up, and closing
  • Collaborate with internal RLC team members to coordinate event logistics and partner experience
  • Track outreach activity, pipeline status, and revenue progress in CRM (Salesforce); training provided
  • All credited sales must represent new partnerships outside of RLC's existing pipeline

Workload Guidance

To help scope this engagement, RLC's experience suggests that meeting the performance goals typically requires approximately:

  • 50 outreach touchpoints per day / ~250 per week (calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, or in-person meetings)
  • 100 new leads added to Salesforce per week

These figures are benchmarks based on what has worked for others in similar roles — not prescribed methods or contractual requirements. You determine the approach that works best for you.

Compensation & Performance Goals

  • Flat fee: $12,500 for the 3-month contract engagement ($50,000 annualized)
  • Performance goal: Generate a minimum of $12,500 in new food donor, large-scale, or sponsorship revenue over the 3-month contract period
  • Commission beyond the $12,500 base, up to $12,500 in additional earnings during the contract period ($100,000 annualized total compensation)
  • Performance bonus eligibility requires documented Salesforce activity reflecting active outreach throughout the contract period
  • All credited sales must represent new partnerships outside of RLC's existing pipeline
  • Compensation is paid as independent contractor fees; contractor is responsible for applicable self-employment taxes

Target goals for the 3-month engagement:

  • $12,500 in new food donor, large-scale, or sponsorship revenue generated
  • Active and growing pipeline with documented outreach activity in Salesforce

These goals serve as the basis for evaluating contract extension or conversion to a full-time role. As an independent contractor, you retain full discretion over how, when, and where you work to achieve these results.
