We are the only immigrant-led organization that works at the intersection of K-12 education and immigration. ImmSchools provides the entire K-12 school community – students, families, their teachers and administrators – with programs and resources to build safe and welcoming environments for immigrant and mixed-status students and families, benefitting the whole school community.

Position Summary

ImmSchools seeks an experienced and mission aligned leader for the Senior Director of Programs. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Senior Director will oversee and lead ImmSchools programs, ensuring strategic growth, program effectiveness, and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for Program strategy, national expansion and team management (50%), curriculum innovation and development (20%), business development and fundraising (20%), and administrative and operational tasks (10%). The Senior Director will manage the program team who work across ImmSchools’ regions. The Senior Director will directly work with organization leadership and regional leaders, who oversee local programming, serving as a strategic partner to strengthen implementation, align regional work with national goals, and scale impact. The ideal candidate will: 1) have served as a K-12 district leader, 2) bring experience in business development with school and district leadership, 3) embrace the complexity of school and nonprofit partnerships, and 4) have a passion for building relationships and managing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Program Strategy, Expansion and Team Management (50%)

  • Lead strategic growth and new partnership efforts by identifying expansion opportunities, cultivating relationships with K–12 stakeholders and funders, and launching high-impact initiatives that drive long-term sustainability.
  • Drive national marketing efforts and support curriculum development while serving as a thought partner for sustaining current region programing
  • Develop and oversee national program strategy, implementation, and evaluation to meet organizational goals while supporting regional leads in regional program implementation
  • Oversee the design, coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, contracts and related services, promoting collaborative relationships between program areas and ensuring that the expectations of funders, partners, educators, parents, students and other stakeholders are consistently met.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to regional leadership, collaborating on the development of new ideas and initiatives, while intentionally avoiding added management layers over programming in established regions
  • Co-develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward ImmSchools’ vision and goals, by clearly communicating expectations, implementing yearly staff development plans, and mentoring by working with leadership team
  • Co-create annual program, departmental and staff goals and objectives and track results against these goals as well as accountability protocols in conjunction with leadership and program leads.
  • Participate in the budget development process and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility.
  • Lead the design and implementation of evaluation strategies, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Translate insights into actionable improvements and support continuous learning and decision-making across the organization.

Curriculum Innovation & Development (20%)

  • Develop and design a new program curriculum that improves students outcomes through academic excellence, social and emotional development, and community engagement, focusing on immigrant and multilingual students.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to design culturally responsive and effective training materials to provide new program offerings or partners
  • Integrate evidence-based and innovative learning methods into curriculum development.
  • Conduct program evaluations to refine and improve educational offerings.

Business Development & Fundraising (20%)

  • Lead the development and execution of strategic growth plans to identify, pursue, and secure partnerships with K–12 school districts in new regions and nationwide.
  • Develop new revenue streams by leading outreach strategy, branding, and marketing efforts that expand our national presence, while supporting innovative approaches to sell or license our offerings and grow a sustainable funding base
  • Analyze district demographics, funding cycles, and education trends to identify growth opportunities and prioritize target districts.
  • Manage a robust pipeline of district prospects, forecast revenue, track KPIs, and report on business development performance to leadership.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local funding sources to support districts in accessing available resources to fund partnerships.
  • Strategically support and co-manage regional growth by identifying and engaging district partnership opportunities, strengthening outreach with local/state funders, and helping negotiate and build strong regional relationships

Administration & Operations (10%)

  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for programs by collaborating with regional leads and leadership
  • Ensure operational processes align with organizational policies and strategic objectives.
  • Support HR functions related to program staff, including hiring and professional development.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Teaching Experience (e.g., Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Curriculum and Instruction) (required)
  • Master’s degree in Education or related field or terminal degree (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience leading systems/ district-level strategy
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience managing teams
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience in business development, fundraising, or partnership development, preferably within the K–12 education sector or a mission-driven organization
  • Strong background in curriculum development and instructional design
  • Experience managing partnerships with a track record of achieving ambitious outcomes
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Must be multilingual in one of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Haitian Creole, Bengali, French among others.
  • Passionate about equity, justice and community building.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with immigrants from a very diverse number of backgrounds such as undocumented Black, Asian and Latinx immigrants.
