Fancy Building Something More Meaningful Than Another Food Delivery App?Version 1.0Right then, here's the deal: We're building a rather important platform to help activists coordinate their efforts and really get things done. No pressure, but the future of the planet might depend on it. (No, really.) We’re taking years of on the ground experience from activists all over the world and turning it into a super streamlined, easy to use platform that enables campaigns to be highly effective mobilisation machines. The RoleWe need a brilliant Full Stack Rails Developer who knows their Turbo Streams from their Action Cable and doesn't break into a cold sweat when someone mentions "infrastructure as code".What you'll be working on:● Building and scaling a Rails 7 application that helps coordinate social movements across the globe● Crafting elegant interfaces to help reduce activist workload● Implementing real-time features using Hotwire/Turbo● Creating secure communication tools for activist groups● Making our CI/Deployment pipeline so smooth it would make a DevOps engineer weep with joy● Managing our infrastructure & multi-cloud deployments using IaCMust-haves:● Hands on, current, experience working with Ruby on Rails >=6● Understanding of modern JavaScript (but don't worry, we're not going full React)● Experience with infrastructure management and deployment automation● Git skills beyond git push --force● Ability to write tests that actually test something useful● A sense of humour● A burning desire to prevent ecological collapseNice-to-haves:● Experience with Kubernetes (because sometimes Dokku just doesn't cut it)● Knowledge of security best practices (activists tend to appreciate not being hacked)● Experience with deploying observability solutions at scale● Experience with geospatial dataWhat we offer:● 100% remote work● Flexible hours (because saving the world shouldn't mean missing your kid's school play)● Actual meaningful work (so not "disrupting" the smart water bottle market)● 3- to 6-month contractual work with possible extensionThe Tech Stack:● Rails 7.2 with Turbo/Stimulus● PostgreSQL with PostGIS● Redis for caching● Ansible for infrastructure● Dokku/K3S for deployment● Git Actions for CI● Kanban for GSDWarning:This job may cause:● Increased awareness of environmental issues● Mild to severe cases of purpose-driven work● Spontaneous conversations about equilibrium climate sensitivity at parties● Uncontrollable eye-rolling when someone mentions their NFT collectionIf you're tired of building yet another SaaS platform and fancy doing something that might actually matter, drop us a line. Bonus points if you can explain the difference between net-zero and carbon-neutral without looking it up ;)P.S. We promise our commit messages are better than our jokes. To apply, send a message about why you'd like to help save the world to: hello@catalystcrm.org.
