The Purpose of Zearn

Zearn is the nonprofit educational organization whose mission is to inspire all kids to love learning math. Everything we do is driven by our belief that every kid is a math kid.

Our top-rated learning platform is designed to catch kids up and move them forward in grade level math. And it works. Large-scale efficacy research shows students who use Zearn make significant gains in math proficiency, including the students who start multiple grade levels behind.

The vital importance of learning math today is hard to understate, and yet today, it is common to think that only some are born to achieve in math. Math learning is often disparaged and feared (e.g. I’d rather go to the dentist than do algebra) or viewed as a special interest of luxury (e.g. if kids don’t have a passion for math that is okay, maybe they have a passion for pottery). We don’t look at learning to read the same way.

Zearn exists to help create a world where all children love learning math.

As a nonprofit, all of our work is driven by what is best for kids. At the same time, we operate as an intense and fast-moving technology company, inclusively solving hard problems that will impact current and future generations. The problems we solve require expertise in pedagogy, software development, persuasion, psychology, design, writing, video production, problem solving, and countless other disciplines. As an organization that is always stretching to get to the next level of impact, every single person owns mission critical work.

If you are ready to join our team of problem solvers, own work that will drive us to achieve impact at scale, we are looking for you.

  • Producing a wide variety of documentation and visual assets as needed for the project

Using your incredible attention to detail to ensure that all scripts and notes are ready to be entered into our CMS and are ready to be a part of a student’s experience in learning. You’ll be ensuring the Spanish content is high quality during the QA process.

  • Committing to 100% accuracy by providing mission critical proofreading and correcting any content errors found
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to create and produce outstanding math content in Spanish
  • Documenting and reporting bugs and other problems or inconsistencies
  • Adhere to existing styles and call attention to discrepancies across related materials
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in translations and across all content, based on established translations, branded terms, and relevant reference tools (i.e., Style Guide and Master Glossary)

Applying your exceptional Spanish skills to ensure every student’s experience in learning through our Spanish lessons is outstanding.

  • Reviewing translated texts and recommending corrections or revisions following the Spanish language conventions
  • Iterating and editing based on input from Translation Manager and Content Operations Manager
  • Managing Pre-Translation and Translation needs, including: file prep, analysis of CMS and digital lesson videos, and identifying other components that need to be included in translation workflow
  • Support the internal review process for each independent digital lesson (IDL) from start to finish

Supporting content creation and participating in development of production processes

  • Preparing digital lessons for Spanish translation and CMS work
  • Providing feedback and suggested improvements in areas that affect content production
  • Supporting knowledge management and transfer by documenting and following new product norms, processes, and tips
  • Assisting Spanish Content Operations Manager in preparation of files and assets

  • How can we leverage this preparation step for more accurate alternative text translations?
  • How can we identify patterns and improve our internal review processes so that we are better equipped to identify errors earlier in the process?
  • How can we leverage the team’s knowledge of Spanish syntax and target dialect(s) to maintain and improve the accuracy, consistency, and coherence of translated materials across products?
  • How can we support the maintenance of Spanish Resource documents so we can successfully use them for content creation?
