Why do we need a Chief Impact Officer?

WorkMoney is a young, vibrant, growing organization. As we scale, we’re in need of a highly experienced leader who can help develop and advance organizational strategy and partner with others to “hold the whole” of the organization. We’re looking for a Chief Impact Officer who is passionate about and motivated by WorkMoney’s vision and has the skills and experience to develop and manage programming that brings that vision to life. The Chief Impact Officer will oversee our research and campaigns, our member services– connecting our members to programs and products that reduce their costs and raise their incomes– and our public relations. The ideal candidate is an intellectual powerhouse who has extensive experience developing organizational strategy, has been an effective executive leader, and brings strong staff and team management skills. As a fast-paced start-up, we’re looking for an experienced professional who can effectively manage competing demands, collaborate to achieve results and independently lead with confidence and integrity.

A typical day in the life of Chief Impact Officer could look like:

  • Organizational Program Strategy
    • In partnership with the Founder & CEO, Managing Director and the Chief Partnerships Officer, develop and advance organizational program strategy in support of WorkMoney’s mission.
    • Track and elevate internal and external developments that require strategic pivots and partner with fellow executive leaders to update and embed new strategic priorities.
    • In partnership with other leaders, cohere the whole of the organization around the program strategy, ensuring all entities are coordinated, fully leveraging their unique assets and complementing each other.
  • Organizational Leadership
    • Engage in cross-organizational strategizing, planning, budgeting and problem-solving as a member of the Executive Team.
    • In partnership with the other leaders, in particular the Chief Marketing and Chief Product Officers, identify and cohere program staff around top-level organizational impact goals and oversee development of team-level goals; regularly track progress to goals and address gaps and implement needed shifts and pivots.
    • Act as a steward of WorkMoney’s mission by continually ensuring programming is advancing organizational goals and identifying and implementing cross-team alignment and collaboration.
    • In partnership with other leaders, develop and support a staffing strategy and plan that aligns with goals and meets organizational needs.
    • Contribute to fundraising efforts by attending meetings with donors and reviewing donor proposals and reports on an as-needed basis, in collaboration with the Chief Partnerships Officer.
    • Act as a steward of the culture at WorkMoney, modeling the organization’s values.

  • Team Leadership
    • Directly manage, support, mentor and grow leadership staff on the campaigns, member services and public relations teams. Cultivate fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • In partnership with team leaders, cohere staff around the vision and goals for the organization and support alignment and collaboration with other WorkMoney teams.
    • In partnership with leaders, oversee implementation of team strategies and tactics and ensure teams effectively drive toward team goals.
    • Support team leaders in meeting team needs and addressing team challenges.
