The Role of the Business Development Team
The Business Development Team’s mission is to increase voter turnout in local, state, and general elections by designing and executing a unified, cross-functional outreach strategy that engages political candidates and campaigns to create and maintain their WeVote profiles and promote electoral participation. It seeks to achieve this by conducting personalized outreach to candidates through email, phone, social media, and online events to drive profile adoption and to engage civic partners using toolkits and co-branded resources designed to activate their audiences.
***For the Fall 2025 election cycle, WeVote has initiated a pilot program that targets key races (starting with state and local races and primaries), especially those involving underrepresented or youth populations. The goal is to schedule outreach to align with the November pilot races, critical electoral milestones, and peak engagement periods.
What You'll Accomplish
- Lead & Coordinate: Facilitate weekly Business Development team meetings with cross-functional leaders including the Chief of Staff, Director of Outreach, Account Executives, Project Managers, Product Marketing Leads, and Graphic Designers
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate on roadmap development and objective-setting for the entire Business Development function
- Project Excellence: Create project plans, track deliverables, manage deadlines, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Communication Hub: Bridge connections between Business Development and other key teams (Social Media, Community Marketing, Recruiting)
- Reporting & Insights: Provide concise project status updates through meetings and written communications
- Proactive Management: Follow up with team members, adjust schedules as needed, and communicate changes effectively
Your Background
We're looking for someone who brings:
- Technical Skills: Hands on experience in planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects.
- Leadership experience: Proven ability to guide projects and teams towards successful outcomes.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of business development processes and partnership strategies
- People Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with diverse personality types
- Results-Driven: Track record of meeting deadlines and achieving goals under pressure
- Follow-Through: Comfortable with accountability and ensuring team commitments are met
Essential Requirements
- Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in JIRA or other PM software
- Partnership Interest: Genuine enthusiasm for outreach and relationship-building
- Growth Mindset: Desire to help build and scale WeVote's Business Development capabilities
- Time Commitment: 2-3 hours weekly during core hours (M-F, 9 AM - 6 PM, any US time zone)
- Mission Alignment: Commitment to strengthening American democracy
- Excellence Orientation: Personal drive for high-quality work and continuous improvement
- Team Collaboration: Enthusiasm for supporting fellow volunteers in a remote environment
- Location: Current US residence
- Availability: At least 2-3 hours each week during our core team hours M-F 9 a.m. - 6 p.m PST with the ability to work 1-2 hours during Pacific Time overlap. Must be available to attend the Business Development team meeting on Wednesdays at 10am PST
