Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical [Volunteer] Mid-Level Manual Tester to join our QA team. The ideal candidate will have experience in manual testing, a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, and the ability to create detailed test cases. As part of our selection process, shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate their practical testing skills by testing a feature of our app and writing test cases before proceeding to a technical interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute manual test cases to ensure the quality of software applications.
  • Identify, document, and track bugs using JIRA/Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Conduct functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of an Agile/SCRUM environment.

Skills:

  • Ability to create detailed and well-structured test cases based on requirements.
  • Proficiency in executing manual tests and documenting results.
  • Familiarity with defect management tools.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC models, such as Agile, Waterfall, or V-Model, and how testing fits within each.
  • Experience in creating test plans and defining test strategies for various projects.
  • Experience in testing applications across different browsers and operating systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a Related Field

Experience: 3-5 Years of Manual Testing Experience

While prior volunteering is not required, we seek individuals who can demonstrate a strong tie to the WeVote mission as demonstrated by a detailed cover letter or volunteer experience within their resume.

Selection Process

  • Initial HR Interview: The first step involves a screening interview with our HR team to assess your overall fit for the role.
  • Practical Testing Assignment: If you progress past the HR interview, you will be given a chance to choose any feature of our app to test. You will be required to:
    • Explore and understand the feature.
    • Identify key test scenarios.
    • Write detailed test cases covering the feature's functionality, edge cases, and any potential negative scenarios.
    • Submit your test cases for review before the next interview stage.
  • Technical Interview: Upon successful completion of the practical assignment, you will be invited to a technical interview with our Project Manager. During this interview, we will discuss your test cases, approach to testing, and problem-solving strategies.
