Watsi is a crowdsourcing platform that enables individual donors to directly fund medical care for patients in developing countries who can’t afford to do so. The funds the non-profit collects are transferred entirely to the patients through PayPal as the organization’s own costs are covered separately. With automatic monthly donations, donors receive a monthly email introducing them to the patient they supported along with an update after they receive care. Watsi was founded in 2011 and is based in Mountain View, California.
