The Opportunity:
This position is in the Digital Enterprise team which is part of the office of Technology & Data Science (TECH). The team is responsible for architecting solutions for, and supporting enterprise business systems including Salesforce, Workday, and Jamis Prime; developing systems and data integrations among business systems and external systems; and designing and developing business intelligence data models and visualizations. TECH is a team of outstanding technology professionals who provide Urban with solutions that employ state-of-the-art technologies as well as project/product management practices including lean, agile, and design thinking. The TECH team works collaboratively in a startup- like friendly and joyful environment.
What You’ll Do:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work with a diversity of stakeholders to gather and document feedback, build and maintain business processes, and promote end user success by supporting effective adoption. Ability to work within agile development methodologies and fast-paced development cycles is essential. Experience managing projects and with data analysis and/or process analysis is a plus. The Business Analyst, Enterprise Systems and Data will report to the Associate Director, Digital Enterprise
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with Salesforce administration, including supporting users, permissions sets, page layouts, and other general maintenance tasks
Collaborating with team members and internal clients to gather requests for improvements, design solutions, and implement these changes as appropriate
Collaborating with team members to develop business intelligence reports and dashboards that support teams across Urban
Collaborating with team members to build and maintain integrations between systems
Documenting solutions and processes
Who You Are:
We are seeking a candidate who is familiar with requirements gathering and database management in Salesforce or other CRM platforms, and is able to learn and adapt to new systems. The ideal candidate has great interpersonal skills and a passion for problem solving, and is able to work on several concurrent projects autonomously and as part of a team. The candidate should be eager to learn and accept new challenges and not afraid to test and propose innovation and new technologies.
The successful applicant will have:
- Strong proficiency with Excel or other data manipulation or query tools (PowerBI, SQL, etc.)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field and/or equivalent experience in database management, programming, or Salesforce administration
- Good project management, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, and handle and prioritize simultaneous requests
- Dedication to excellent user experience and meaningful user adoption; demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders across different business processes
- Documented history of successful project completion; demonstrated ability to understand, articulate, and train others on work processes
- Familiarity with Jira or other project management systems in an Agile environment
The following are preferred but not requirements:
1-2 years of experience in Salesforce administration (certification preferred)
A basic understanding of enterprise system connections and architecture
Familiarity with service management and support ticket resolution
Familiarity with programming languages (html/CSS/JS, Java, R/Python, etc.) and data formats (JSON/XML) is a plus

The target salary range for this position is $65,000 - Mid $72,038- Max $81,962. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and considers internal comparisons. Salaries are just one component of Urban Institute’s total compensation package.
