Part-Time / Internship / Practicum Position OverviewTrans Health HQ is looking for a systems-minded builder to help redesign the data backbone of the largest free trans health resource hub. We currently maintain over 5,000 curated trans health and wellness resources. As we’ve grown, our categories, filters, and tags need to be rebuilt to match the scale and complexity of our platform. This role is about designing the structure behind the scenes: how resources are categorized, how tags are applied, and how users find what they need quickly and intuitively. You’ll work directly with the CEO and product team to redesign our data architecture so that our platform remains searchable, scalable, and community-informed. What You’ll Do- Audit Our Current Data System: Review categories, tags, and filters across 5,000+ resources. Identify inconsistencies, outdated/overlapping items, and gaps.- Redesign the Taxonomy: Create a scalable structure for organizing resources; define tagging rules and metadata standards for consistent ingestion.- Design for Scale: Build for 10,000+ resources; support multiple search pathways (care type, identity, insurance, geography, readiness stage).- Lead Community Feedback Research: Recruit/interview trans community members to understand search behavior, language, intuitive filters, and friction points; synthesize insights.- Translate Insights into Data Structure: Implement updated category hierarchies, improved filter logic, clear tagging conventions, and metadata standards.- Create a Taxonomy Guide: Document the system for future team members to maintain consistency. What We’re Looking For- Strong Systems Thinking: Comfortable organizing information into clean, logical structures.- Comfort with Structured Data: Experience with spreadsheets, databases, gSheet, SQL, or similar.- Analytical Mindset: Identify patterns, redundancies, and gaps in large datasets.- Research Skills: Conduct interviews/qualitative research; turn conversations into actionable insights.- Attention to Detail: Precision in categorization and metadata.- Interest in Health Equity or Digital Health: Motivated by building systems that improve access to care.
