About the Role:
The Business Development Manager will drive sustainable revenue growth and adoption for Thorn’s Victim Identification (VID) technology, directly advancing Thorn’s mission to eliminate child sexual abuse online. You will drive the and adoption of Thorn’s Victim Identification Services and technology, such as Thorn Detect, by forging relationships with law enforcement agencies, forensic tool providers, NGOs, and other organizations who are working to identify and rescue victims of child sexual abuse.
You will play a critical role in building a recurring revenue stream that expands the reach and impact of Thorn's victim identification technologies and ensures long-term sustainability for our mission of protecting children from sexual abuse.
What You’ll Do:
- Work cross-functionally to ensure investigators have the best technological solutions, as soon as possible, while realizing revenue in service of long-term sustainability.
- Drive all aspects of VID new business sales process: prospecting, selling, negotiating to close, shepherding to post-sale account management
- Promote Thorn’s mission to protect children with passion and our technical solutions to support victim identification efforts
- Speak confidently to all stakeholders of a customer’s team about how Thorn’s technology and services can be tailored to meet various customer use cases, procedures, and technical infrastructure
- Keep meticulous track of sales activity and opportunity creation in Salesforce
- Demonstrate ingenuity in all aspects of work - from creative prospecting to accurate documentation and contracting
Skills We’re Seeking:
- A commitment to putting the children we serve at the center of everything you do.
- Track record of success closing SMB and Enterprise deals with 5+ years of B2B software sales experience.
- Comfortable explaining how a complicated technical solution can solve a unique investigative challenges.
- Highly organized and persistent, able to coordinate multiple inputs, track dependencies, and shepherd opportunities through lengthy approval and contracting processes.
- Relationship Focused: Able to build trust and rapport internally and externally. Experience establishing and cultivating mid to senior-level, long-term relationships
- Skilled at remote selling via email, phone and video conference.
- Thrives in spontaneous problem-solving that occurs when selling at a startup.
- Experience working as a salesperson, or Account Executive within a SaaS or technology-focused company.
- Experience selling into SLED. Ideally, you’ll have law enforcement or government agency sales experience.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally several times a year for company meetings and law enforcement focused conferences.

Compensation and Benefits
A reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role is $79,000-$109,250/year. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to location; skill sets; experience and training; licensure, and certifications.
Our remote-first work model is structured around working from home most of the time. But, there will be times that employees are expected to travel. For example, Thorn may host company-wide gatherings, and smaller teams may hold in-person meetings and team-building events, or require attendance at specific conferences.
