The flagship Technovation Girls program inspires girls and young women (ages 8 to 18) to identify a problem in their community and work together in teams to develop a mobile app or AI-based solution.

Technovation is building one of the largest AI and tech talent pipelines in the world, reaching more than 400,000 people across 160+ countries through its programs, with 87% of its alumni over 18 planning to or currently pursuing STEM degrees.

About this Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to support both volunteer program operations and the community engagement of Women Techmakers into the Technovation ecosystem. This strategic role combines two complementary responsibilities: ensuring our global community is engaged, supported, and effective while supporting a network of women tech professionals, creating a seamless pathway from early tech education to professional leadership.

We are looking for an organized, passionate community builder who has experience building programs and managing multiple priorities. The ideal candidate understands the power of building for and with the community they are supporting and creating global connections in our digital world. You’ll work with the Technovation team to develop engaging professional development content and events for members of the community while ensuring supporting our volunteer programs to run smoothly and effectively. This role will help us build an ecosystem of support for our current volunteer and alumnae programming, providing a space for learning, connection, and career development.

Key Responsibilities

Women Techmakers Integration and Management

  • Support the implementation of a plan to retain at least 60% of the current network membership (10,000+) during the transition
  • Lead Transition Advisory Sub-Councils consisting of existing Women Techmaker community members
  • Support the planning and running of virtual sessions for the professional development of the community members
  • Using existing communication channels to address questions, and, upon request, connect network members to local Technovation communities
  • Work with the Volunteer Programs Manager to share opportunities about volunteering with the Technovation Girls program as a Mentor, Coach, or Judge, and engage Technovation alumnae in events that they can participate in and gain value from

Communications and Community Engagement

  • Create a bi-weekly newsletter to update network members on new organizational initiatives, corporate partner offerings, submissions from community members, and events with the support of the Marketing Team
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to highlight members of the women tech professional network on all Technovation-owned social media accounts

Event Planning and Execution

  • Manage a schedule of events including regional meetups, Crossover Cafés (sessions for network members to share expertise with Technovation volunteers), technical upskilling sessions, and media training/public speaking workshops
  • Collaborate with the Assessment team to create evaluations to assess event satisfaction and needs to inform planning of future events

Volunteer Engagement and Program Operations

  • Support virtual program events such as volunteer training and engagement sessions, including designing session materials and providing support to facilitators during live sessions
  • Coordinate onboarding, training, and monitoring of judges, including updates to match current season requirements, review of feedback, and supporting volunteer inquiries in collaboration with the Volunteer Programs Manager
  • Assist with additional volunteer program-related tasks as needed

Mentorship and Alumnae Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Development to establish a mentorship program for senior network members and Technovation alumnae, creating pathways for professional growth and connection

Indicators of Success

  • Successfully retain 60% or more of the Women Techmakers community during the first year of transition
  • Increase in volunteer engagement as measured by posts viewed, interactions, and new content generated on the online community platform
  • Increase in the number of mentors matched with student teams and industry mentors matched with submitting teams
  • Timely monitoring of judge scoring and responsive handling of judge feedback
  • Development and delivery of improved support materials and resources for mentors and volunteers
  • Successful planning and execution of professional development events with high satisfaction ratings from participants

Ideal Candidate

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in program management, community engagement, and event management
  • 2+ years of experience working with volunteers and students in a nonprofit or education setting, particularly involving mentorship and building relationships
  • Exceptional program management skills and demonstrated passion for community building
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable speaking to audiences whose primary language is not English
  • Experience crafting communication strategies to inform and inspire audiences and drive them to take action
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with data and knows how to use it as a storytelling tool; understands data privacy requirements
  • Experience with digital marketing channels, content marketing, and consumer analytics
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse people, organizations, communities, and cultures
  • Comfortable handling competing priorities and knows when to ask for help
  • Passionate about empowering young girls and women around the world with skills to create a more equitable and sustainable future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, English, information management, community development, adult learning, education, or similar field
  • Experience with workforce learning and development
  • Experience with social media marketing
  • Experience designing with Canva or similar design tools
  • Knowledge of best practices of the digital marketing funnel
  • Experience working or volunteering with a nonprofit
  • Curious mindset and stays up to date on content and communication trends
  • Languages: English and Spanish and/or Portuguese, preferred
