SJAC is a leading Syrian transitional justice organization striving to prevent impunity, promote redress, and facilitate principled reform by documenting violations, processing and preserving data, and collaborating directly with policymakers, justice mechanisms, and victims to lay the groundwork for holistic justice.
POSITION SUMMARY
SJAC is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to provide programmatic and administrative support in the day-to-day administration of SJAC activities from its headquarters in Washington DC. The Program Coordinator will support SJAC’s missing persons team, development efforts, and org-wide administration. The selected candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States and willing to relocate to the Washington Metropolitan area.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinate donor reporting efforts under three awards, including gathering and analyzing M&E data and drafting sections of donor reports.
• Coordinate the drafting of SJAC’s annual report, the State of Justice in Syria.
• Work with SJAC’s finance and operation teams to ensure appropriate oversight of SJAC consultants, including managing vetting, drafting new agreements, tracking the need for modifications, and ensuring prompt payments of invoices.
• Provide logistics and operations support in organizing SJAC staff travel and/or in person trainings
• Maintain up to date budget forecasts and answering questions about available resources.
• Coordinate development efforts across teams and support senior staff in researching and developing proposals.
Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Middle East Studies, Political Science, or related field. Advanced degree an asset.
• Knowledge of the Syrian conflict and associated human rights violations. Knowledge of missing persons investigations a plus.
• Two + years of professional administrative experience in a nonprofit environment. Experience supporting government grants preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills, including attention to detail, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and ability to work under and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be a team player and demonstrate a sense of responsibility and sensitivity in dealing with diverse audiences.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience using Excel, particularly for budget management.
• Arabic language skills strongly preferred, but not required.
Salary: Starting salary is dependent on education and experience within established bands of compensation. SJAC anticipates offering a starting salary between $56,000 and $60,000.

SJAC has a hybrid work policy. While employees are occasionally expected to report to the office for in person events or meetings, they are otherwise free to split their working time between our DC office and their home within the Washington metropolitan area according to their preferences.
