Supply Trace is an open-access tool that identifies potential risks to workers in global supply chains. Incubated at Northeastern University, Supply Trace’s mission is to improve the lives and working conditions of vulnerable workers by democratizing access to high-quality supply chain risk data. By combining this data with sources such as international shipping records, Supply Trace provides actionable insights that can be traced back to their origins. The platform collaborates with universities, researchers, NGOs, companies, governments, and law firms to support accountability and drive improvements in global labor conditions. The pilot phase of Supply Trace was launched in March 2024, in collaboration with the Sheffield Hallam University Forced Labor Lab, focusing on the apparel sector and links between forced labor in the Uyghur Region of China and shipments to the US.
