Remote
Solve Employment! is opening a Software Engineer role for our client, a social enterprise company based in Singapore. This role is for someone who wants to own their work end to end. You won’t be brought on to do admin or data entry, you’ll be leading your own build, learning fast, and helping shape how the product grows.
What You’ll Do
Your core focus will be full-stack and mobile development on cross-platform app.
- Build and maintain app using React Native (Expo), NestJS, and PostgreSQL, with an emphasis on scalability and cross-platform reliability.
- Translate Figma UI/UX designs into responsive, high-fidelity components.
- Handle mobile releases end to end — EAS builds, App Store and Play Console submissions, and per-environment configuration.
- Contribute to the primary website (HTML, CSS, Node.js), improving performance, SEO, and user engagement.
- Integrate and improve agent-facing workflows, including chatbots, automated email systems, and branded HTML email templates.
Depending on your strengths, you may also pick up work in these areas (not required from day one, but good to have):
- AI & Recommendation Systems: Supporting data pipelines and a recommendation engine — this starts simple (rules-based or lightweight AI) rather than full ML from day one.
- DevOps & QA: Helping keep the CI/CD pipeline, testing, and security practices up to platform standards — this is not a dedicated role yet, just part of writing compliant code.
- Kuala Lumpur Office Support: Occasional help with user journey documents, functional/technical specs, or infrastructure program applications. On-site travel is unlikely to be required.
What We’re Looking For
We hire primarily for attitude — the right person can be taught the rest.
- Working knowledge of full-stack TypeScript: NestJS (or Node.js), React Native (Expo), and React/Next.js.
- Comfortable with PostgreSQL and SQL, including hand-managed migrations (not purely ORM-reliant).
- Experience integrating third-party identity or payment providers (OAuth/OIDC, JWTs, webhooks, certificate/signature verification) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, with a possible future move to Alibaba Cloud) is a plus.
- Exposure to Python, FastAPI, search/ranking systems, or ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) is a plus, not a requirement.
- Most importantly: resilience, initiative, and the ability to plan ahead.
- You bring solutions along with problems, not just requests for approval.
- You know when to escalate and ask for help before something becomes a last-minute crisis.
- You can handle periods that demand more hours than usual, and you show up for the team when it counts.
- You have some drive toward social impact and want to be part of changing how things are done, not just clocking in as a task-taker.
