SameSame is a new non-profit startup dedicated to finding ways digital technologies can support queer youth, especially in places where it’s difficult or even dangerous to be different. Our first product—a WhatsApp chatbot that offers a self-guided cognitive behavioral therapy course—has been recognised as a potentially groundbreaking innovation by MIT Solve, WhatsApp’s Chat for Impact Accelerator, Mozilla Foundation and Fast Forward.

To make sure we deliver on this potential, we’re looking for a Product Manager who will draw on user insights and data to turn our beta bot into a high-impact product that LGBTQI+ youth across the world regularly use and love. We are a small, but highly experienced team that has come together to build what we wish we had when we were growing up. We’re looking for a candidate that is passionate about our mission and excited to contribute to the culture and growth of our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with our Executive Director to develop the Chatbot product roadmap
• Lead the delivery of the product roadmap, taking a hands-on approach to the development of new features and functionality
• Ensure our users’ needs are at the core of everything we do, bringing their perspectives to every key decision, through careful research and frequent, in-depth user engagement
• Turn data into decisions — gather and analyze data from multiple sources to help the team understand what is and isn’t working, producing insights and recommendations that will shape the product’s future
• Stay abreast of new technologies and other digital mental health services to ensure we’re learning from the best and constantly pushing ourselves to do better

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 3 years experience in a product management role, especially in a fast-paced startup environment
• Data analytics and metrics management skills are essential
• Attention to detail and excellent project management skills are required
• Experience working with vulnerable or marginalized communities would be an advantage
• Familiarity with the experiences of young people in the Global South, personally or professionally is preferable
• Experience using Agile/Scrum methodology and/or workflow management tools would be beneficial

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

• This role reports to our Executive Director, Jonathan (Jono) McKay
• We are a remote team, allowing you to work from anywhere in the world as long as you’re free for meetings with colleagues on the East Coast of the USA and Sub Saharan Africa
• The salary offered will depend on the candidate’s location and experience, but we will look to provide a competitive package based on industry benchmarks
