Safecast is a global sensor network that collects and shares radiation measurements to empower the public with data about their environments. The organization provides open sensor network data, software, and hardware. It enables the public to both contribute and access the collected data for free. All data collected and published by Safecast is open and available under CC0 dedication. The organization was created 1 week after the 3/11 Japan earthquake. Safecast operates its radiation sensor network comprised of static and mobile sensors actively deployed around Japan through joint efforts with partners such as International Medcom, Keio University, The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and GlobalGiving. Safecast 3rd Anniv Event, bGeigie Nano, Safecast Nano Loaner, bGeigie Nano BLE, Safecast Air, and nGeigie Stalker are some of the projects handled by Safecast. Safecast was founded in 2011 and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
