REFUNITE is looking for a Data and Communication Analyst to assist our global communication activities. Data is the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling organization operates. The communications team is seeking a technically minded candidate who can aggregate, clean, crunch and transform data with the goal of shaping REFUNITE’s global awareness campaigns. We are working in Kenya, DRC, Somalia, Uganda, Jordan, Turkey and Iraq and will soon launch campaigns in more countries.Who we areREFUNITE is a tech non-profit focused on reconnecting separated refugee families through our web and mobile platform. REFUNITE has already assisted 320,000 refugees in their search for missing family, and we continue to launch new services to serve the more than 45 million displaced people worldwide. You are enthusiastic about sharing technical data. Excellent communication skills are a must.Tasks- Extract and aggregate data from REFUNITE’s databases and real-time dashboard (i.e. data on user flows and segments, registrations and time spent on the platform)- Create lists for our email and SMS campaigns to help families reconnect- Prepare data reports and presentations for existing and new partners- Derive value from data and translate data insights into tangible action points- Geo-target SMS campaigns- Assist the tech team in the further development of REFUNITE’s real-time dashboard- Share campaign data with the goal of improving performance- Assist the tech and communication team with A/B testing- Think critically about REFUNITE’s data and process complex data sets and workflows into actionable strategies- Liaise between REFUNITE’s communication and tech team- Crunch data and evaluate campaign effectiveness- Update and develop REFUNITE’s online platforms as needed- Analyze segments through online focus groups, surveys and insights from the field- Ad hoc tasks and assistanceOur ideal candidate- BA or MA in computer science, engineering, mathematics or statistics- Experience with PHP and Python (Django, Flask frameworks)- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience. Private-sector candidates preferred- Expert knowledge of Excel and knowledge of MySQL, Drupal and CMS- A portfolio of data projects- You have an entrepreneurial mindset, are flexible and willing to take on ad hoc tasks- The ability to work in an extremely fast-paced and multi-tasking environmentPractical information- Location: Nairobi, Kenya- Report: You will be reporting to REFUNITE’s Communication Director and working closely with REFUNITE’s IT Director.- Office: You will be working from our office in Nairobi- Working hours: Monday to Friday (40 hours)- Duration: Six monthsUp for the challenge?We’re a fast moving group of techies, designers, project managers and writers.
