NOW HIRING: Social Media Associate
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rainforest Alliance is looking for a dynamic, creative, and collaborative Social Media Associate to join our Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to our Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for raising global awareness about the Rainforest Alliance’s work by implementing our social media strategy on our global Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels. You will develop engaging social media graphic designs and videos, pitch creative ideas, write compelling captions, engage with audiences on our platforms, use performance data insights to help inform content decisions, help field internal post requests, and help to execute campaigns and collaborations with influencers and brand partners.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Execute the Rainforest Alliance’s social media content calendar under the guidance of the Social Media Manager;
- Help to develop educational and engaging visuals, captions, scripts, and videos for our global social media platforms, ensuring the content is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with our brand guidelines;
- Provide thoughtful feedback on social media video content developed by external video production consultants;
- Schedule content for all platforms in Sprout Social;
- Engage audiences via comments and direct messages daily in a timely, thoughtful, and on-brand voice;
- Regularly use social media analytics to evaluate post performance, identify what content resonates or underperforms, and provide recommendations to improve content quality and audience engagement;
- Support the execution of Rainforest Alliance campaigns on social media;
- Help to execute collaborative influencer/partner posts;
- Work closely with marketing, communications, and fundraising teams to ensure social media content aligns with broader organizational priorities;
- Monitor conversations and engagement on Rainforest Alliance social media channels for risk exposure and relay to relevant colleagues; and
- Stay current on social media best practices and emerging trends to source content ideas, create timely posts, and identify opportunities for the Rainforest Alliance to engage in relevant conversations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- 1-3 years professional experience in a social media role
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in social media, digital content, or storytelling.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
- Demonstrated experience creating social media graphics and videos; experience with Canva preferred.
- Experience using social media management software for scheduling and social media data analysis; experience with Sprout Social preferred.
- Experience in community engagement on social media platforms
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills working professionally with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to receive feedback and collaborate in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

- National Salary range (Excluding NY and DC) - $44,611 - $63,729
- New York Salary Range - $55,003 - $75,718
- Washington DC Salary Range - $51,302 - $73,289
