RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

As one of the world’s leading international environmental non-profit organizations, the Rainforest Alliance (RA) is working to create a more sustainable world by using social and market forces to protect nature and improve the lives of farmers and forest communities in 70 countries around the globe. We work with over 7.5 million farmers and workers who follow our Sustainable Agriculture Standard (SAS) as well as with more than 7,600 partners, including companies, multilateral and international cooperation agencies, governments, philanthropists, and other NGO’s that share our vision. The true power of the Rainforest Alliance lies in our alliances.

Over the last 36 years, RA has worked to develop strong relationships with local partners and communities and build an organization that is equipped to make long-lasting changes at a global scale. The next step in RA´s journey might be the toughest, but it is also the most crucial: to scale its impact.
RA believes there are two key elements that can help to make lasting impact: partnerships and momentum. If RA can harness the power of the many and work in tandem towards the same goals, the economic, social, and environmental flywheel will stop from spinning in the wrong direction.

FOREST ALLIES

Forest Allies is a solutions-oriented initiative that brings together companies, regional civil society organizations, and forest communities for targeted projects that protect, restore, and enable the responsible management of tropical forests around the world. The portfolio boasts 189,206 hectars under community-based management. Which is defined as an area sustainably managed by a local community with the goal of improving their livelihoods and environment. Communities implement improved forest management practices like agroforestry, conservation, and restoration and generate income from sustainable harvested timber and non-timber forest products.

The unique combination of data, experimental learning, and storytelling makes Forest Allies an influential platform that translates major global commitments into real-life outcomes for people and nature. Together, we are increasing the visibility of forest communities in the global climate and nature agenda.

Forest Allies projects are spread across some of the world´s most critical forest landscapes: the Amazon Basin, the Selva Maya, the Congo Basin, and the Indonesian Archipelago.
