Position Summary:

At the Rainforest Alliance, we are looking for a results driven, pro-active, and collaborative, Director to provide strong leadership within the Asia, Africa, Australasia, and Middle East (AAAME) region.

As one of the senior leaders in the global CE&P team this role will be accountable for providing both strategy, direction and support to delivering the organisational revenue goals within the regional business unit.

Responsibilities, Leadership and Management:

  • Build the sales strategy for the entire regional business unit.
  • Develop and implement the strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and expand market share in the region.
  • Lead the team (circa 8 people) to deliver year-on-year revenue growth across the region.
  • Build a team that can foster and lead both existing business and the development of new business in AAAME.
  • Provide leadership and support for the entire global corporate engagement and partnership team.
  • Analyse global market trends and customer insights to identify new business opportunities across the region.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key clients together with investing in building new relationships with potential partners.
  • Track and report on sales performance.
  • Sales metrics related to certified products and assess the opportunity areas for other offerings including scalable projects.
  • Report regularly using real data and analytics to guide strategic decisions and sales planning.
  • Coach the team in translating the suite of offerings to clients’ needs and building a convincing narrative on the value we provide;
  • Collaborate with other departments to sync go-to-market strategy with our suite of offerings.
  • Build a high-performing, results-oriented team that reflects the Rainforest Alliance’s vision and culture, creating a positive work environment for personnel.
  • Guide, motivate and develop personnel, seeking opportunities for professional advancement and ensuring they understand how their work relates to Rainforest Alliance’s global mission and strategy.
  • Delegate authority to the AAAEM team, ensuring that they are supported and connected to the broader organization, and ensure planned objectives are met.
  • Proactively identify and manage risk in the region, raising key issues to the supervisor where appropriate.

Advocacy and External Engagement

  • Develop and maintain results-based, long-term partnerships with Rainforest Alliance clients, partners, donors, NGOs, governments, certification bodies and other stakeholders.
  • Enhance Rainforest Alliance’s reputation, credibility, and positioning in the region.
  • Actively promote the use of Rainforest Alliance Offerings.
  • Represent Rainforest Alliance at key events, presentations, and roundtables.
  • In collaboration with the Communications department, develop and disseminate communications and marketing materials on work in the region.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of proven experience in a Sales / New Business Development environment, working with global organisations and leading staff, (whilst experience in a similar NGO is ideal, it is not essential)
  • Strong people skills, high accountability, motivational, and directional;
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to both build and foster customer relationships;
  • Good understanding of sustainable market dynamics and consumer and customer needs, behaviors, and expectations;
  • Extensive experience with complex sales, relationship building, corporate affairs or marketing;
  • Track record in leading complex sales processes, external engagement, high-level stakeholder management and representing an organization in a multi- stakeholder environment;
  • Track record of collaboration and teamwork, experience in leading teams through change;
  • Demonstrated track record of effective partnerships at global level to build joint initiatives;
  • Knowledge of the corporate ESG investment space;
  • Knowledge and understanding of voluntary certification programs;
  • Ideally working knowledge of international commodity supply chains, for example; coffee, cocoa, palm oil, fruits, and forest products;
  • Experience facilitating industry collaboration, cross-sector coalition building, and systems change methodologies;
  • Key competencies: sales, transformational leadership, analytical ability, innovation, adaptability, persuasion, critical and reflective thinking, public speaking, resourcefulness, relationship builder based on trust, empathy and openness, and strong organizational skills to lead multiple priorities in a time critical manner;
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, written and verbal proficiency in English is required;
  • Ability to travel.
