Cooperman College Scholars is a non-profit program that supports academically talented, highly motivated Scholars with financial need from Essex County, New Jersey, in their efforts to attain a four-year college degree. Cooperman Scholars provides college scholarships, pre-college application support, mentoring and other resources to support each Scholar’s success through graduation.
Job Description
The Social Media & Administrative Intern will help enhance the social media presence of Cooperman College Scholars in support of efforts to connect Cooperman Alumni, encourage high school candidates to apply for the scholarship and engage current Scholars. The Intern will also support operational, administrative and college success efforts. This person in this role will:
- Create content and implement social media campaigns on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook, (with potential to expand to TikTok, Twitter, and other social media platforms) with a special focus on Scholar recruitment, Alumni engagement & sharing the Scholar experience
- Manage social media outlets and promotions under the guidance of the Operations & College Success Team Manager by creating thoughtful, lively, engaging, content and by posting regularly with the tone and feel of the Cooperman College Scholars program
- Increase the profile of our Scholars through updates to picture walls, writing profiles to spotlight college and alumni accomplishments, organizing student social media takeover, the creation of an alumni wall
- Support administrative and operational processes in support of HS Scholars and applicants to the program
- Track college application submissions and various application components such as test scores, personal statements, to ensure that each Scholar completes the application process successfully
- Assist with data entry, filing, and maintenance including but not limited to SAT scores, transcripts, financial aid packages, term bills, and student aid reports
- Assist with planning and coordination pre-college programs and events
- Support outreach and follow up with College Scholars
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a college student, who shares the commitment to the Cooperman College Scholars program. They will have excellent written and oral communication, organizational skills, and a demonstrated interest in nonprofit operations. We request that applying candidates possess:
- Recent College Graduates are eligible and encouraged to apply! Applicants are able to apply for either one term or for both terms of employment needed
- Ideal candidates have 1-2 years minimum of experience with website content creation, social media, and marketing experience, or experience in education
- A strong sense of urgency and passion for supporting underrepresented students in college
- References that would attest to his or her professionalism
- The ability to work successfully with diverse populations
- Willingness to go above and beyond for a good cause
- Must be comfortable with social media campaigns and a wide variety of platforms including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook
- Experience using Google Suite programs including Sheets, Docs, and Slides as well as Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word
- Interest in or experience with design programs such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is a must
