Join Us and Make a Difference: Be a Volunteer for Oppia!

About us:

At the Oppia Foundation, we have a mission to make high-quality education a reality for all, regardless of where they live or their circumstances. As a non-profit organization, we have developed an online educational platform designed to meet the specific needs of children facing difficulties in accessing quality education.

Oppia has already served over 2 million users worldwide!

Oppia lessons have been proven effective: students using Oppia have shown improvements of over 50% in pre- and post-learning tests.

  • Attending weekly team meetings
  • Checking the team group chat before meetings

Expected Requirements:

  • Availability to dedicate at least 3 hours per week to volunteering for a minimum of 6 months (flexible hours within your availability).
  • Availability to attend a weekly meeting lasting 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Ability to use Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Chat, Google Drive
  • Ability to reply to emails or messages within 2 days

  • Proficiency in Google tools (Docs, Sheets, Presentations).

How Does the Volunteer Team Work?

The bulk of volunteer work is done remotely. We meet once a week to update on the efforts made.

The volunteer should use the remaining hours for their activities, working asynchronously, writing their grant proposals, learning how to grant-write, etc.

Currently, our meetings take place on Sundays at 3 pm noon EST via Google Meet, but the time and day are usually adjusted so that all volunteers can participate.

By becoming a volunteer, you'll not only be making a real difference in children's lives but also have the opportunity to:

  • Develop valuable writing, communication, and research skills.
  • Collaborate with a diverse and dedicated team that shares your passion for writing and providing education to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access it.
  • Build a valuable network with an international team.
  • Possibility to contribute in other areas within the Foundation.
  • Active participation in product improvements.

When Shouldn't I Apply to Be a Volunteer?

  • If you don't identify with the cause.
  • If you don't have access to a computer/laptop and the internet.
  • If you can't commit to donating volunteer time for 3 hours per week for the next 6 months - evaluate if you're going through a period of instability before applying.
