About New Story
Around the world, there are 1.8 billion people living without adequate shelter. New Story pioneers solutions to end global homelessness. We work with philanthropists, impact investors, financial institutions, and key players in the housing ecosystem worldwide to create sustainable housing solutions for low-income families across Latin America. We empower families to become active participants in a market where they can afford the housing they want.
Founded in 2015, New Story has raised over $120M, impacted 15,000+ individuals in 35+ neighborhoods, and been named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies four times. We built the world's first community of 3D-printed homes, as featured on Apple TV+. Today, we're focused on what we believe are the two most neglected yet critical parts of the housing value chain: affordable land ownership and housing finance.
Our evolved, market-driven model treats vulnerable families as customers — not charitable beneficiaries. We've developed a pipeline of 2,300+ housing lots across 7 master-planned neighborhoods in Mexico, launched a first-of-its-kind Land Ownership Fund, and demonstrated 99%+ repayment rates with 2X property value appreciation in developed communities. Over 60% of our land titles go to women — compared to Mexico's national average of 35%.
We're a small, high-talent-density team with Y Combinator and Praxis principles in our DNA. Our next chapter requires a leader who can champion the mission to philanthropists and investors alike.
The Leader We're Looking For
At a time of exciting growth, we are hiring for a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead fundraising strategies that will greatly enhance our capacity to innovate and scale new solutions. Sitting on our Executive Team and working cross-functionally across the organization, the CDO will drive the strategy and growth of our two primary revenue streams: philanthropy and impact investment.
This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional leader to build upon our strong foundation of donors and make a meaningful contribution to New Story's vision of tackling the housing crisis. You can help New Story to raise $50m+ in philanthropy and hundreds of millions in impact investment in the next eight years.
Specifically, the CDO will:
In partnership with the CEO, create a multi-year fundraising plan inclusive of a blended revenue mix of philanthropic support (high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations) and impact investments.
Build and manage a pipeline of new donors and partners; set and pursue short- and long-term objectives and key results (OKRs) for each fundraising channel.
Supervise, grow, mentor, and develop a team that is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with major individual donors, institutional funders, and impact investors.
Work alongside the Impact Team, which shapes, strategizes, and executes our programming on the ground; develop a deep understanding of program strategy in order to find mutual alignment and set achievable outcomes and metrics for grants and partnerships.
Partner with the Creative team to design a cohesive experience for donor engagement and loyalty; oversee the creation of compelling portfolios, pitch decks, and other donor-facing materials that leverage data, results, and stories.
Oversee smooth back-office operations, inclusive of high Salesforce utilization and consistent processes for donor data and moves management tracking, pipeline management, and reporting. Ensure that donor recognition and stewardship is conducted in a timely manner.
Advise on and support CEO's and other key staff's portfolios of primarily individual donors with the capacity to give 7-figure gifts.
Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive team and Board of Directors and keep abreast of trends and innovations in the philanthropy field.
As a member of the Executive team, contribute to guiding overall organizational strategic direction, decision-making, prioritization, and goals, as well as setting and modeling a culture that reflects New Story's mission and values.
