ABOUT THE ROLE
New Story is on a mission to end global homelessness! The Sr. Manager of Development will be responsible for resourcing New Story’s next chapter of catalytic growth. As a strategic fundraising professional, you have a proven track record of individually initiating and closing 7-figure multi-year gifts from high net worth individual donors, and will secure major funding for our work. You will be responsible for building your portfolio from the ground up, powerfully communicating program impact, inspiring donors via events and trips to the field, and engaging donors for the long haul.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build and grow a diverse portfolio of 50-100 individual major gift prospects and donors at the $1M+ level

  • Work in close collaboration with and serve as a thought partner to our CEO and CDO to support and/or lead the cultivation of New Story’s highest capacity donors and prospects

  • Participate in each step of the donor pipeline including prospecting, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

  • Develop creative major gift strategies to secure new donors and deepen existing donors’ investment in New Story

  • Work with the Creative team to develop creative and impactful content, events, and reporting that connects major donors with our work and their impact

  • Ensure effective development operations and drive fundraising results through a deep commitment to data standards, knowledge capture, and data-driven decision-making

  • A versatile fundraising professional with a proven track record of initiating and closing 7-figure, multi-year individual gifts

  • A strategic, out of the box thinker with a get-it-done attitude and ability to stay focused and nimble in a dynamic environment

  • An emotionally intelligent relationship builder with the ability to quickly earn trust and develop authentic relationships in a fast-paced, digital world

  • An effective communicator with the ability to inspire others to action and hold accountable diverse internal and external stakeholders

  • A team player who is excited to be part of a fast-paced, mission-driven organization that is pioneering solutions to end global homelessness

  • Ability to participate in evening and weekend events

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally at least 25% (with possibility of up to 50%) of the time

Intentional Gatherings. As a remote team, we recognize how valuable and rejuvenating in-person time can be. Whether it’s an all-company Team Summit, Fun Camp for fundraisers, or spontaneous department gathering, we set aside budget to gather in-person to have fun, reflect, and plan together.

Improve Thru Learning. We believe in always learning and leveling up our skills. Whether it's paying for a conference, an online course, or books, an internal Hackathon, a Tea(m) Talk, or a lunch and learn, we invest in each team member so they can be the best at their craft.

Trips to the Field. It’s amazing to meet the families we help and see the homes up close and personal. You'll get to visit the work first hand in either Mexico or El Salvador. Prioritization will vary by role.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role is a senior fundraising role that reports to the Chief Development Officer and does not manage people.

LOCATION & COMPENSATION

We are prioritizing candidates in the United States (remote welcome). Our offer will be commensurate with experience and location. Our general range for this role is $115,000 - $150,000 USD.
