About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, results-driven Development Manager to join New Classrooms' Development team. Our work is critical— we are responsible for securing the financial resources that support New Classrooms' continued growth, innovation, and leadership in the personalized learning movement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Development across all fundraising-related areas. You will also contribute to the success of our entire department, including supporting and interacting with the Chief Executive Officer.

What You Would Do

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Development and CEO to advance relationships with current donors and prospects.
  • Assist with drafting correspondence, conducting research, preparing for meetings, staying current on donor relations, maintaining documentation, etc.
  • Identify new funding opportunities, across any and all funding streams, including creating research briefs, presenting findings to leadership, and executing cultivation strategy moves.
  • Write and submit high-quality grant proposals, reports, renewals, and letters of interest.
  • Cross-functionally manage the reporting process for current grants, including tracking deadlines, outcomes, and grant expenditures, in collaboration with multiple internal teams.
  • Lead critical team-wide functions, such as gift processing and acknowledgement, quarterly board meeting prep, and Salesforce database maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team on donor communications, which may include quarterly newsletters, asset creation and management, events, etc.
  • Support the Development team in planning and executing stewardship activities for our Board of Directors and Board of Advisors.

What We Are Looking For

  • 4+ years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, communications, or programmatic role.
  • Exceptional writing skills and high degree of intellectual curiosity.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to education.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other donor management software preferred (e.g. Raiser’s Edge; DonorPerfect).
  • Comfort with working with numbers, and interpreting budgets and data analysis preferred.
  • A strong work ethic, supported by commitment and excellent follow up and follow through.
  • Willingness to “pitch in” and work as a team player on a spectrum of activities from supporting initiatives administratively to contributing to and executing strategy.
  • Adaptable to changing environment and circumstances.

Role Classification and Benefits

This role is remote, full-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 42 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy.

The hiring salary range for this role is $63,000 - $66,375 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $70,000 - $73,750 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas.

New Classrooms is a fully remote organization. All employees work from home, and occasionally travel for in-person get-togethers and off-sites.
