JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is maintenance and personal services work in overseeing and monitoring housekeeping services. Work involves coordinating custodial housekeeping and supply operations. Worker exercises independent judgement. Work is performed under general supervision.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:

  • Schedules and monitors housekeeping and supply activities in state buildings in order to ensure work is accomplished correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Schedules building inspections in order to ensure cleanliness and orderliness standards are met.
  • Evaluates custodial, housekeeping, and supply programs and recommends changes in order to improve operations.
  • Implements changes in cleaning procedures in order to improve program effectiveness.
  • Trains new employees in order to enable them to perform assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Records data and completes reports in order to document activities and provide information.
  • Develops and implements linen distribution procedures in order to ensure availability of required linen at all times.
  • Implements and complies with human resource laws, policies, procedures and practices such as: AA/EEO, recruitment, employment, position classification, performance appraisals, training, discipline, contract administration, human resource components of security protocols of agency information security and confidentiality policies, and employee safety.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, and practices used in large-scale housekeeping and custodial operations.
  • Knowledge of the operation and care of hand and power cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise employees engaged in a variety of custodial and housekeeping functions.
  • Ability to evaluate housekeeping operations and recommend policy and procedural changes.
  • Ability to maintain comprehensive records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to use applicable computer programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in industrial or institutional housekeeping work including considerable supervisory experience.
