OVERVIEW:

The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (MaineIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. MaineIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies.

ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

This exciting and engaging work provides advanced technical services involving the analysis, design, development, and implementation of complex application systems. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing business needs, formulating, and defining application scope and objectives, and designing interfaces to connect and integrate systems capable of fully meeting business needs and objectives.

You will have an opportunity to work with a dedicated and diverse Agile team including programmers, testers, business product owners and architects to identify and propose solutions to complex business problems. You will also have an opportunity to mentor team members in Systems Analysis and problem-solving.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

You will perform analysis and documentation of business and system interactions. You will design technical solutions to business issues and work with the Application Development team to implement those solutions. You will be involved in all phases of the SDLC, including Requirements Definition and Documentation, Systems Analysis and Design, System Integration, User Acceptance Testing, and Deployment Coordination. You will also be required to facilitate processes for the team and vendors to ensure they are meeting MaineIT policy and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle as well as the project development cycle
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to write clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated experience in gathering business requirements for system design including advanced methodologies like story mapping, impact mapping, user story writing and refinement
  • Experience writing queries and analyzing data (SQL)
  • Experience in agile development methodology and practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a high-paced team environment
  • Experience in writing and executing test plans with attention to detail and quality focus
  • Ability to manage your time proficiency, displaying good time management skills
  • Ability to self-organize and assist the teams you work with in self-organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A four (4) year combination of higher-level programming and or systems analysis and design experience. A Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science may be substituted for two (2) years of programming experience.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:

  • A solid working experience in web applications, and other current technologies.
  • Data design/analysis and data mining using SQL
