Job Description:

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and highly organized communications professional to serve as Manager of Operations, Office of Communications and Creative Services.

This position will play a key role in advancing MaineDOT’s public engagement objectives by supporting the department’s communications and creative services efforts.

Working closely with the Director of Communications and Creative Services, the Manager will coordinate and produce multi-media outreach including – but not limited to – internal and external messaging to employees, news media, social media channels, internet and intranet content, the MaineDOT executive speakers’ bureau, and other duties as assigned.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with the Director, coordinate all aspects of Communications/Creative Services Office

  • Produce, shoot, and edit still and video projects to be used in internal and external outreach

  • Compose press releases and respond to media inquiries

  • Assist Web Coordinator with internet and intranet content

  • Assist Virtual Public Involvement Coordinator

  • Assist Reprographics staff

  • With Director, facilitate workflow management platform for the Office

  • With Director, facilitate media management system

  • With Director, help ensure consistency of message and branding across all platforms for internal and external audiences.

  • Oversee the purchase and operations of the department’s audiovisual equipment, such as projectors, TVs, and camera equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with media production

  • Experience with media relations

  • Experience with social media platforms

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment with occasional travel required for public meetings or events.

  • Some extended hours may be required during emergency response incidents.

Minimum Qualifications:

Significant education, training, and experience in graphic and digital services including experience in a supervisory capacity.
