We are a remote team that improves online medical education and teaches healthcare professionals domestically and abroad how to save lives. We also take the same advanced life-saving training we developed for medical professionals and give it to underserved populations all around the world at no cost. Who we’re looking for:

We seek an executive-level technology leader who is visionary, strategic, and passionate about innovation—without needing to be hands-on in coding. As Head of Technology & Product, you will guide our tech and product strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering a culture of growth and servant leadership.

Why this role is unique:

We are transitioning from in-house backend development to a third-party tech provider to enhance scalability, security, and performance while reducing bugs and maintenance overhead. This is a strategic shift that allows us to focus on front-end improvements, marketing experiments, and product innovation. We need a leader excited about this transformation—someone who can refine product strategy, guide teams, and drive innovation rather than push for in-house backend development.

As a Head of Technology & Product, you will be responsible for:

  • Technology & Product Strategy – Define and execute a long-term technology roadmap aligned with business goals and innovation.
  • Leadership & Growth – Inspire, mentor, and empower teams to drive effective execution.
  • Product Ownership & Execution – Oversee product evolution, ensuring front-end and API development supports user experience, marketing agility, and growth initiatives.
  • Security & Scalability – Ensure site security, performance, and scalability by working with our third-party technology partner while keeping internal processes efficient.
  • Technical Escalation & Support – Provide backup for critical issues and guide troubleshooting, ensuring smooth collaboration with third-party providers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations to leverage technology for business impact.
  • Vendor & Partner Management – Manage relationships with external tech providers to maximize efficiency, reliability, and innovation.

Must-Have Experience

  • Leadership experience in a technology or product-focused executive role
  • Deep understanding of front-end and API-driven development (modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS), CSS frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Foundation, UI Kit), component-based architecture, GraphQL)
  • Experience working with Platform as a Service (PaaS) and API-driven environments
  • Security and scalability expertise in a digital product environment
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external technology vendors

Nice to Have (or willingness to learn)

  • Cloudflare (maintenance, security, performance optimization)
  • WordPress, PHP, MySQL
  • GTM, on-site data tracking, SEO
  • Experience with automation tools, AI-driven tech, and experimentation platforms (e.g., VWO)
  • UX/UI familiarity (Figma, Adobe XD)

What This Role is NOT

  • A hands-on backend developer role.
  • A position for someone looking to rebuild everything in-house.
  • A rigid environment—our culture values adaptability, collaboration, and strategic thinking.

Additional Information:

  • This role is full-time, requiring 35-40 hours per week.
  • It is a fully remote contract position, with Independent Contractors responsible for their taxes and benefits.
  • Each applicant is required to successfully complete a paid Trial Period before transitioning to this role.
