mRelief is a tech nonprofit 501(c)(3) that provides an easy-to-use web and text messaging platform to help people sign up for SNAP (food stamps) benefits. Our mission is to transform access to social services for the inherent dignity of all people. To date, we have connected more than 1.4 million families to social services, unlocking over $2 billion in food benefits.

Our supporters include the Families and Workers Fund (a collaboration between the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, and more), Y Combinator, the Walmart Foundation, and AARP Foundation, among others.

mRelief is excited to expand its services in Maryland and is hiring its first-ever Maryland Local Partnerships Manager. This role will collaborate with local anti-hunger advocates and state agencies to ensure individuals and families in need have access to essential food resources.


Position Description

This is a remote role based in Maryland with two primary responsibilities:


Lead SNAP Outreach Efforts in Maryland
The Maryland Local Partnerships Manager will spearhead mRelief’s SNAP outreach plan in the state. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining relationships with local government agencies, anti-hunger advocates, and key stakeholders.
  • Managing communication and coordination, ensuring alignment with state and community partners.
  • Developing and executing quarterly progress reports to track outreach efforts and impact.
  • Collaborating with the product team to create and refine digital outreach materials that resonate with target audiences.
  • Working closely with the marketing and data teams to ensure outreach goals are met and continuously optimized.

Strengthen and Expand Maryland Partnerships
The Maryland Local Partnerships Manager will also serve as a key liaison for organizations that offer—or seek to offer—SNAP enrollment assistance. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and prospecting new partnerships to expand mRelief’s network and impact.
  • Managing and supporting existing partners through our CRM system, ensuring seamless processing of SNAP applications.
  • Providing an excellent partner experience, ensuring organizations have the tools and support needed to succeed.
  • Responding to partner inquiries in a timely manner, addressing challenges, and fostering long-term relationships.
  • Driving partner retention and satisfaction through proactive engagement and ongoing support.

This role is ideal for a strategic relationship-builder with experience in government, social services, or community-based organizations. The ideal candidate is passionate about food security, partnership development, and leveraging technology to streamline access to public benefits.


Experience & Education

Candidates must have at least 3-4 years of relevant work experience in government, social services, food banks/pantries, or community-based organizations OR hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.


Requirement

Access to high-speed, uninterrupted internet to support remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Onboard and train new local (partnering) organizations on mRelief’s SNAP Outreach tools.
  • Generate new partnership opportunities through existing and potential community-based networks.
  • Coordinate introductory meetings with organizations providing SNAP outreach and support.
  • Manage accounts with partner agencies (food banks, government agencies, and community-based organizations) to ensure long-term success.
  • Develop positive relationships and handle partner needs in a timely manner.
  • Manage search engine marketing channels on behalf of nonprofit partners.
  • Identify and share opportunities to streamline processes and improve mRelief’s products for Maryland clients and partners.
  • Suggest strategies to improve participation, renewals, and expansion opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, and present confidently in person and virtually.
  • Conduct research and report on data related to mRelief’s programs and tools.
  • Represent mRelief at in-person events, conferences, and community engagements to build relationships and expand impact.

Qualifications

  • Experience in group facilitation and organizing.
  • Established knowledge and relationships in social services across Maryland and beyond.
  • Familiarity with local leadership and government policies.
  • Expertise in SNAP and/or public benefits, ideally through lived experience.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

  • Work from anywhere: This role is 100% remote, and you can live anywhere in Maryland. We provide an annual remote-work stipend and access to DeskPass for coworking spaces.

  • Work-Life Balance: Employees start with 15 days of paid time off and 10 days of sick leave, with additional PTO accrued each year. Every other Friday is a half-day, ending at 1:30 PM CST.
