Founded in Bahrain in 2006, Majal began as Mideast Youth, serving marginalized populations in the Middle East & North Africa. As the organization has grown, we’ve scaled up our projects to a broader, more global scope, and rebranded as Majal. Our platforms include: Mideastunes.com, the largest platform for underground artists in the MENA who use music as a tool for social change. Ahwaa.org, a discussion platform for LGBT youth in the Arab world that leverages game mechanics to to protect user identities and facilitate high-quality interactions. Migrant-rights.org, the premier resource on the plight of migrant workers in the Gulf region. CrowdVoice.org, an open source platform that uses the power of crowdsourcing and interactive tools to contextualize social justice movements worldwide.
