The Opportunity:
The Equity Youth Programs Coordinator will be responsible for informing the work of Kids

Help Phone through implementing activities that build trust, maximize access to mental health

& wellness support and strengthens connections with equity-deserving communities.

With support from the Equity Programs Manager, the role will require primarily activating

outreach & engagement activities across Canada through events & partnerships, supporting

program volunteers, connecting with equity-deserving youth serving organizations to fulfill the

goals of action plans.

What You’ll Do:

Program Coordination, Outreach and Engagements

  • Attend events across Canada and deliver presentations or info sessions in schools, community organizations, various events and digital platforms to raise awareness of Kids Help Phone’s resources and programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Black & Newcomer youth, community-serving organizations, volunteers, and key stakeholders.
  • Manage communication with community stakeholders (e.g., schools, settlement organizations), responding to inquiries related to events and program offerings via email, phone, and in person.
  • Support the growth of the equity programs' network by maintaining and expanding newsletter audiences and contributing to content development.
  • Coordinate the distribution of outreach materials to diverse Black, Newcomer, and equity-deserving communities as the program expands.
  • Collaborate across Service Programs team to support outreach initiatives that improveaccess to services, including programs for equity deserving communities

Volunteer Coordination

  • Support the delivery of a volunteer-based outreach program to enhance awareness and trust between Kids Help Phone and equity-deserving communities, including:
    1. Recruitment and selection of volunteers
    2. Training and onboarding of new volunteers
    3. Ongoing support, recognition, and knowledge sharing
  • Assist with internal and external engagement for the Black Advisory Council and Newcomer Advisory Networks, including administrative tasks like preparing packages, briefs, and travel requisitions.
  • Maintain a tracking system for all volunteer and ambassador activities, ensuring up-to-date records and reporting.

Communications, Reporting & Operations

  • Track and report data on outreach materials, including inventory management, distribution, and reach.
  • Monitor trends from outreach and community initiatives to support team strategy and improve program impact.
  • Develop and send written communication, engagement plans, and program content to stakeholders to increase awareness of Kids Help Phone’s offerings.
  • Collaborate with the Brand, Storytelling, and Communications team to create and implement marketing campaigns for volunteer recruitment, outreach, and youth engagement.
  • Assist with administrative duties, such as preparing program materials, managing inventory, and supporting the Director & Executive Director as needed.
  • Track and manage stakeholder relationships, volunteer data, and outreach materials using Salesforce.
  • Support the Manager as required with reporting on program progress
  • Travel as required to events and relationship building opportunities

Our Ideal Candidate:

Education and Knowledge

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in relevant discipline
  • Strong understanding of school or post-secondary student landscape in Canada
  • Bilingualism; French and English is an asset.

Experience/Skills:

  • 2+ years recent related experience working in the non-profit, mental health or community sector completing youth engagement, outreach or student support work
  • Program & event coordination experience
  • Experience and confidence in public speaking and facilitation
  • Must be comfortable with frequent travel, especially during the post-secondary school year (September – April) and must have a valid driver’s license
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, including students, school administrators and program partners

Additional Assets:

  • Knowledge of the youth mental health landscape
  • Strong technical ability; comfortable using Microsoft Office, Project management tools, navigating dashboards and pulling reports with Salesforce CRM
  • Creative; comfortable making digital assets, working in Canva
