Job Information
Our team is looking to welcome a mature, motivated, mission-driven MEL State Lead to join Khushi Baby
Responsibilities:
- Drive evidence-based updates to Khushi Baby’s state-level and project-specific theories of change.
- Define and update SMART impact KPIs in coordination with state health program directors and field teams.
- Oversee regulatory approval for research-related activities at the state level (IRB, ethics committees).
- Maintain protocol compliance throughout data collection and analysis
- Establish baseline levels for impact KPIs using secondary data (policy documents, official reports) and designing/validating primary survey instruments.
- Develop real-time monitoring protocols for these KPIs, delivering timely feedback to internal teams and state stakeholders.
- Convert evaluation findings into recommendations for refining intervention design or deployment at the state level.
- Link impact evidence to pay-for-performance or other funding models for sustainable organizational growth at the state level.
- Recruit and develop internal MEL capacity within Khushi Baby, emphasizing state-based data management and analysis competencies.
- Serve as the nodal point for research collaborations with academic and institutional partners.
- Conduct regular field visits for data validation, stakeholder engagement, and to strengthen local commitment to data-driven improvements.
- Demonstrate and disseminate where Khushi Baby’s interventions have improved KPI performance, advocating for broader adoption in state programs.
Requirements:
- PhD-level training (or equivalent) in public health, economics, operational research, implementation research, or biostatistics preferred. A Master’s degree with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Systematic reviews, evidence gap-map analysis
- Theory of Change design
- Qualitative study design and analysis
- Retrospective and prospective cohort study design and analysis
- Randomized controlled trial design (simple, cluster, interrupted, digital twin)
- Quasi-experimental study design and analysis (e.g., difference-in-differences)
- Spatial and spatiotemporal analysis
- Cost-benefit/effectiveness study design
- Grant writing and IRB protocol management
- At least 5 years of experience in public health in India, including evidence-based intervention design and/or analysis for a state-level health program.
- Experience analyzing large-scale public health datasets (≥100,000 individual-level observations).
- Demonstrated dissemination of findings to state or national government stakeholders.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills for state-level advocacy and collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings to policymakers and funders.
- Ability to manage multi-faceted projects under tight timelines

- Prior experience working with government officials and NHM data sets
- Publications with mixed-methods research
- Prior experience working with mHealth / digital health projects
- Excellence in English writing and communication
- Demonstrated work / experimentation in prompt-engineering for tools like ChatGPT
Remuneration
Remuneration offered will be between 15–22 LPA commensurate with the candidate’s experience and skill sets
