Job Description

This is a remote position.

The Chief of Staff is a trusted partner to the CEO whose primary role is to help execute the priorities of the Organization operationalizing strategy into coordinated execution, process improvements, and maximizing the capacity and effectiveness of the CEO. This is a senior person who interacts with the leadership team, the board of directors, the strategic advisory board as well as external partners. This role is instrumental in helping to organize and align strategic priorities with the team.

Requirements

The Person: Qualifications & Experience
All candidates should have proven leadership, and relationship management experience. The COS will need to prioritize key activities and manage competing priorities across a virtual and in-person team and multiple site-locations. Specific requirements include:

● Advanced degree (Master’s)
● 10-15 years of work experience in the global health sector, with at least 2 years of experience in a management role
● Prior work experience as a Chief of Staff is highly desirable
● Experience operationalizing strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
● Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
● Strategic thinker, action-oriented, entrepreneurial, highly adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
● A track record of effectively developing and managing key relationships and partners across constituencies
● Flexibility to achieve results within a dynamic environment and a willingness to work collaboratively in a mature start-up environment
● Comfort and ability to speak with a wide range of stakeholders
● An engaging and collaborative leadership style
● Excellent English is essential, Hindi and/or other regional Indian languages is desired

Job Responsibilities
Organizational Operating Rhythm and Execution
Maximize the effectiveness of the CEO by turning strategy into coordinated execution across departments and programs
Own and manage the organization’s operating cadence, including weekly leadership meetings, monthly reviews, quarterly planning, and annual planning cycles
Ensure leadership decisions translate into clear execution plans with defined owners, timelines, and follow-up
Track progress on organizational priorities and strategic initiatives, proactively identifying risks, delays, or misalignment
Maintain organizational dashboards and trackers to ensure visibility into key programs, technology, and growth initiatives
Ensure coordination and alignment across programs, engineering, growth, and operations teams
Drive accountability across leadership by following up on commitments and ensuring closure on key decisions
People Operations and Organizational Effectiveness
Partner with the CEO and HR team to strengthen organizational structure, clarity, and effectiveness
Support performance management processes including goal setting (KPI/KRAs), performance reviews, and leadership feedback cycles
Help onboard senior leadership hires and ensure their successful integration into the organization
Support organizational design, including defining roles, reporting structures, and team evolution as the organization grows
Monitor organizational health, including retention risks, team effectiveness, and leadership capacity gaps
Help design and implement leadership development and succession planning processes
Support culture-building initiatives
Direct Support to the CEO and CEO Effectiveness
Act as a strategic partner to the CEO to translate strategic priorities into operational execution
Manage the CEO’s priorities, ensuring focus on highest-impact activities
Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and talking points for internal and external engagements
Track key commitments made by the CEO and ensure follow-through by relevant stakeholders
Serve as a coordination point between the CEO and leadership team, ensuring clarity and alignment
Support preparation for Board meetings, donor engagements, and key external meetings
Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives
Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives on behalf of the CEO
Support execution of key organizational priorities, including scaling initiatives, partnerships, and new programs
Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen organizational effectiveness
Serve as a flexible resource to address emerging priorities and organizational needs
