Job Description

Job Description:
  • Senior UI/UX Designer who is excited to design intuitive, inclusive, and impactful health tech products that empower health workers and improve patient care.

  • Lead user experience design across mobile and web platforms, prioritizing simplicity, efficiency, and accessibility.

  • Strong understanding of design for trust and ethics in AI (transparency, control, explainability), exposure to AI design patterns

  • Design AI-assisted workflows that enhance healthcare delivery — e.g., AI-driven patient summaries, clinical recommendations, and voice-based input interfaces.

  • Ensure seamless integration of AI components into the overall user experience, emphasizing transparency, explainability, and user trust.

  • Conduct user research and field testing with community health workers and doctors in low-resource settings to inform design decisions.

  • Design for users with low digital literacy — minimal text, intuitive navigation, iconography, and guided workflows.

  • Design doctor-facing interfaces that reduce cognitive load — ensuring relevant content is presented with minimal scrolling, minimal clicks, and without unnecessary white space.

  • Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that align with technical feasibility and medical protocols.

  • Establish and maintain a scalable design system optimized for offline use, low bandwidth, and multilingual accessibility.

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and medical advisors throughout the agile development cycle.

  • Ensure all designs are WCAG-compliant and responsive across various screen sizes and devices.

  • Contribute to a culture of empathy-driven design and iteration.

  • Design for integration of emerging features like AI-enabled decision support, clinical scoring tools, and localized voice interfaces.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of UI/UX design experience, preferably in digital health, ed-tech, or social impact sectors.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating ability to design for low-literacy and/or high-pressure user environments.

  • Expert in Figma and familiar with tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, Miro, or equivalent.

  • Experience with Android-first design, progressive disclosure, and mobile usability testing.

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex user journeys and reduce visual and cognitive noise.

  • Understanding of accessibility guidelines (WCAG), responsive and inclusive design best practices.

  • Strong communication skills, user empathy, and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams.

  • Bonus: Familiarity with FHIR, OpenMRS, or experience designing for healthcare workers in LMICs.
