Position Overview:

The Partnerships Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the Partnerships Manager by identifying, nurturing, and maintaining relationships with external partners to create career opportunities for Indigenous participants (First Nations, Métis, Inuit). This role emphasizes collaboration, administrative support, and outreach, ensuring the Partnerships Manager can achieve key strategic goals while fostering meaningful relationships aligned with IFA’s values.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment while respecting and reflecting Indigenous cultural protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Opportunity Creation: Support the Partnerships Manager in identifying and cultivating employment and internship opportunities for participants through proactive outreach, including cold calling and emailing potential partners. Assist in securing 70+ internships annually to meet the unique needs of Indigenous communities.

Building and Maintaining Relationships: Support the Partnerships Manager in building and maintaining partnerships with employers committed to hiring Indigenous talent while ensuring alignment with IFA's values. Facilitate MOUs, manage disputes, and implement feedback mechanisms to improve partnership effectiveness and monitor impacts on participants and communities.

Reconciliation Guidance: Collaborate with the Community Engagement Team to provide actionable guidance to companies on integrating reconciliation practices that reflect Indigenous values, particularly focusing on Call to Action 92 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Participant/Mentee Support: Conduct culturally attuned information sessions that explain the Partnerships role within IFA, incorporating storytelling and traditional knowledge-sharing practices. Share relevant job postings with participants and provide tailored support by facilitating skill-based training opportunities in collaboration with partners. Offer one-on-one assistance for interview preparation, ensuring that support respects and aligns with Indigenous traditions.

Administrative Support: Oversee tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintaining accurate records to ensure alignment with organizational objectives while honoring Indigenous communities. Update and manage the CRM system for effective communication and follow-up with partnership relationships.

Event Representation: Represent IFA at various events, both in-person and online, when needed.Advocate for IFA while ensuring cultural sensitivity and respect in all engagements.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Partnerships Manager and other teams, including education, community engagement, and mentorship, to ensure a cohesive approach to program implementation and support.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, And Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is an asset.
  • Experience: At least 3+ years of demonstrated experience in partnership coordination, business development, or a related field, with a proven track record of working with Indigenous communities. This experience is essential.
  • Reconciliation Knowledge: Basic understanding of reconciliation practices, including Call to Action 92 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Ability to assist in providing culturally sensitive guidance on fostering inclusive work environments.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trust and respect within Indigenous communities. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities is crucial.
  • Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, or Inuit) cultures, traditions, and issues. Experience in providing culturally relevant career support is highly desirable.
