Location: Canada / Remote

Rate: CAD 25 to 28 per hour

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (must be able to work between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cultivate Elder's Council: Develop and maintain relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to establish an Elder's Council. Organize gatherings to seek guidance and uphold cultural protocols, ensuring their voices remain central to decision-making.
  • Support Mentorship Team: Collaborate with the mentorship team to connect mentees with Indigenous support resources. Facilitate access to culturally appropriate resources, fostering self-empowering mentorship experiences.
  • Secure Indigenous Speakers: Identify, engage, and coordinate with diverse Indigenous speakers for IFA programming and events, ensuring culturally authentic and respectful presentations.
  • Cultural Sensitivity Training: Develop and deliver cultural sensitivity training to enhance understanding of Indigenous cultures and issues. Provide ongoing support to ensure organizational practices align with Indigenous values.
  • Community Engagement Reporting: Develop and implement reporting systems and KPIs to track the effectiveness of Indigenous engagement initiatives. Generate reports on outreach activities and outcomes, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Travel for External Conferences and Events: Attend external conferences and events as needed.
  • IFA Training and Events: Participate in IFA trainings, meetings, and events.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in community engagement, program development, or related fields, the focus is on understanding Indigenous perspectives and protocols.
  • Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, leaders, and stakeholders, honoring diverse cultural traditions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing reporting systems, KPIs, and evaluation frameworks to measure the impact of community engagement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Knowledge Systems, committed to integrating Indigenous perspectives and practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly and culturally appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.


Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field preferred.

Additional Training/Certification:

Certification or training in Indigenous cultural competency, protocols, and Indigenous Ways of Knowing is highly desirable.
