NADEL and ETH4D are seeking a creative Communication Specialist starting from September/October 2026 to help us intensify our communication, outreach and online presence. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and further developing the communication channels of both groups, ensuring clear and engaging messaging.
About NADEL and ETH4D
NADEL offers various educational programs and events for ETH students, professionals, and the Swiss public on global cooperation and sustainable development. NADEL works closely with various Swiss organisations within the field of global sustainable development.
ETH4D is an ETH-wide initiative of over 60 research groups from engineering, natural sciences to social sciences, which - together with partners from industry, policy and civil society - develop innovations that address global challenges and foster teaching collaborations in engineering and natural sciences with universities on the African continent.
This position is a great opportunity for communications professionals who are interested in global development issues and communication of scientific research and teaching to a wider audience.
Job description
You will be responsible for the overall planning, organization, and strengthening of the communication and outreach activities of NADEL and ETH4D. Key responsibilities include:
- Coordination, layout design, and copy-editing of media information, research briefs and further communications material, e.g. for donor engagement or teaching programs
- Developing and implementing the digital strategy of NADEL's and ETH4D's existing websites, newsletters, and social media, including producing text and visual content
- Support with NADEL's podcast and video series
- Planning, organizing and managing events
- Supporting the publication process for NADEL output and helping to grow NADEL's network
The position is limited to a duration of 2 years.
Profile
- Degree in communication, journalism, media studies, public relations or a related field
- At least 2 years of work experience in communications or public relations
- Proven experience in content creation, digital communication and social media (LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Strong writing and editing skills in English (German and French is a plus)
- Proven ability to handle a number of different tasks with tight deadlines
- Proactive, organized, and able to work independently
- Skills in graphic design, video/visual content creation is a plus
- Familiarity with the international cooperation sector is a plus
- Work experience in academic environment is a plus
