Technical Expert in Drug Carrier Fabrication

We are looking for a Technical Expert to join our focused ultrasound technology team for delivering drugs non-invasively to the brain using customized drug carriers.

This position will support our recently developed Aggregation-Uncaging Focused Ultrasound (AU-FUS) technology for delivering drugs non-invasively to specific brain structures using customized drug carriers.

The key objectives of this position are (1) to manage the fabrication and characterization of ultrasound-sensitive drug carriers, (2) improving the manufacturing process and (3) establish the delivery of biologics such as RNA to the brain using our ultrasound technology.

Job description

  • This role requires a very experienced technical specialist who can manage and oversee the complex chemical processes / synthesis necessary to produce the ultrasound-sensitive drug carriers, load them with different drugs and advance the process for loading, perform and maintain the quality control, and delivering biologics to the brain as well
  • Besides overseeing this complex area, this position requires to summarize and present the status of the drug carrier fabrication in written and oral reports and performing the necessary statistical analyses for quality control
  • This position requires a large level of autonomy to monitor established processes and improving / translating them into new modalities

Profile

Required skills:

  • PhD in biology
  • Approval to perform in-vivo experiments in the Canton of Zurich
  • Very strong proficiency in drug carrier chemistry and synthesis
  • Significant practical experience in molecular and RNA biology
  • Understanding of focused ultrasound physics
  • Experience in quality control and good laboratory / manufacturing practice (GLP/GMP)
  • Experience in performing in-vivo tests and different animal behavior assays
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., high-impact publications)
  • Experience writing scientific publications, reports and successful grant proposals
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Prism / Graph pad or similar statistical software
  • Experience and willingness to training junior staff (e.g., drug carrier synthesis)
  • Familiarity with different animal models of neuropsychiatric / neurological disorders
