Postdoctoral researcher in nano-optomechanics
100%, Zurich, fixed-term
We are seeking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team to work at the interface between nano-optics and optomechanics.
Recent advances in integrated optics and meta-optics have enabled unprecedented control over light-matter interactions, catalyzing breakthroughs in imaging, nonlinear optics, and photonic computing. We leverage these developments to advance the field of optomechanics. By exploring the interplay between optical and mechanical degrees of freedom, our group aims to unlock new frontiers in fundamental physics and quantum technologies.
As a postdoctoral researcher you will integrate a dedicated team of PhD students to harness the nano- and micro-photonics toolbox for enhanced control over optomechanical interactions. Your research will be central to investigating these effects, advancing our fundamental understanding, and translating new physical phenomena into functional technologies.
Job description
Your work will cover all the steps from idealization of the system to its full characterization:
- Design of optomechanical systems using multiphysics numerical simulations
- Nanofabrication in state-of-the-art cleanroom environment
- Experimental characterization of their optomechanical properties
While you are expected to lead your own project, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with PhD students.
Profile
- The successful candidate holds a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, supported by a strong background in experimental laboratory work and advanced data analysis
- Experience in optomechanics, nanofabrication, nanophotonics or integrated optics, experiment control, or data analysis are beneficial
- We are looking for an individual who shares our passion for cutting-edge research, brings a high degree of motivation and creativity, and communicates with clarity
- They should enjoy working collaboratively and respectfully within a diverse team
