Background:

Tulsa Responds is a limited liability company (LLC) of Tulsa Community Foundation (TCF) dedicated to making a positive impact on individuals, families, and communities in Tulsa County by providing free and easily accessible support for tax filing, comprehensive enrollment in publicly funded benefit programs and financial counseling. They increase reach and convenience by offering assistance in English and Spanish at a main central site and several partner locations. Together in collaboration with local non-profits and public agencies, Tulsa Responds simplifies enrollment in programs that increase opportunities for financial stability and economic mobility.

Position Summary:

The Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership, effectiveness and sustainability of the Tulsa Responds organization through vision setting and strategy development in alignment with its mission, cultivating partnerships and community relationships , and developing high-performing teams. The Executive Director leads the Tulsa Responds Management Team, which is responsible for planning and execution, internal culture and communication, people development and accountability as well as organizational and program results.

Responsibilities / Essential Job Function:

The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position:

  • Responsible for defining clear organizational vision and strategic plans, aligning goals and priorities with TCF, and oversees development of Tulsa Responds infrastructure and systems to achieve goals, and establishes expectations and guidelines for execution through the Management Team.
  • Accountable for the development of the Tulsa Responds annual budget and funding strategies to support the organization’s strategic plan and program goals, lead management team review of financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annually), maintain excellent financial stewardship to ensure financial health and sustainability of the organization.
  • Establish organizational metrics and key indicators to assess program outcomes, understand community impact, and utilize data to inform future strategies and create process/program improvements.
  • Cultivate and lead strategic relationships with community partners, stakeholders, existing and new funders to sustain and grow Tulsa Responds.
  • Primary leader and representative of Tulsa Responds accountable for the strategic relationship management with local nonprofits.
  • Lead public relations spokesperson, participating in strategic events, panels, coalitions, and speaking engagements to increase success and sustainability of Tulsa Responds.
  • Accountable to ensure effective processes and audit procedures are implemented across the organization to monitor regulator compliance, quality assurance, and organization/TCF policies as well as grant/funding requirements and commitments.
  • Develops and leads the Tulsa Responds Management Team, strengthening leadership competencies and management practices, ensuring alignment of strategies and priorities, and empowering team with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Establishes the expectations and framework for organizational structure, strategic staffing and workforce planning processes with TR Management Team to build and maintain high performing teams needed to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Sets the standard, leads by example, and develops all leaders to be role models of Tulsa Responds’ mission and culture, conducting all activities with integrity in alignment with principles and values of the organization, Tulsa Community Foundation, and George Kaiser Family Foundation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or other related field is required (or equivalent of education and professional experience in related field).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading organizations and direct people management, business or non-profit management systems, and cross-functional teams in highly collaborative and dynamic environments.
  • Experience and reputation for excellence with community partners, foundations, nonprofit organizations in the Tulsa community is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in budget creation and management; fiscal responsibility.
  • Familiar working with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, with capability to learn and navigate other relevant software (such as HubSpot, Asana, Slack)

  • Understands professional employment policies and practices, HR compliance, and capable of ensuring appropriate people management practices across organization
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining trusted relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, partners, funders, and the communities we serve.
  • Strong leadership and business management skills, with demonstrated success in translating vision and high-level strategies into long and short-range plans, managing budgets and funding strategies, prioritizing and aligning execution across organization and stakeholder groups to achieve goals and create sustainable success/impact.
  • Impactful speaker, organizational champion / spokesperson, community influencer, fundraiser.

Physical Requirements:

  • Communicate: Frequent phone, in-person, and messaging communication via various platforms. Must be able to exchange information effectively and accurately in all elements of verbal and written communication.
  • Operate: Constant operation of computer, phones, and other office productivity tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between program, client, partner, and other stakeholder locations as required.

Hours & Location:

  • Position is based in Tulsa, OK at the Alameda central office located at 2174 S. Sheridan Road, Tulsa OK 74129 and requires travels to other partner sites/office locations as needed.
  • Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility required for various events, meetings, and relevant business needs.
