Term: Part Time (2-3 days a week) with a view to becoming a Full-time (5 days/week), Fixed-Term Contract

What Are We Looking For?

iProbono is seeking a proactive and detail oriented Finance Officer to support and strengthen our financial management function. Based in London or another part of the UK, this role will work closely with the leadership team to ensure efficient financial processes, accurate grant reporting, and well maintained finance systems.

The Finance Officer will also coordinate with iProbono’s UK based Finance Committee, maintain financial records, and support compliance with relevant regulatory and donor requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong bookkeeping and financial management skills, excellent organisational capacity, and preferably, experience preparing detailed financial reports in a nonprofit or grant funded environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Management

  • Manage month end and year end financial closing processes and preparation of management accounts.
  • Process and review expense claims and supplier invoices in line with organisational policies.
  • Maintain and improve finance systems to ensure efficient financial operations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Prepare financial reports and support reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with charity sector standards
  • Assist the leadership team in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Work with the CEO and senior operations leadership to prepare the annual working budget for the UK bank accounts and support reporting to the UK Finance Committee and Board at quarterly meetings.

UK Bank Accounts and Cash Management

  • Process payments through the UK bank accounts and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Maintain the UK cash book, budget forecasts, and bank reconciliation.
  • Liaise with banks, accountants, and auditors as required.

Systems and Tools

  • Maintain accounting software and Excel based financial tracking systems.
  • Ensure accurate financial record keeping across teams and jurisdictions.

Compliance and Governance

  • Monitor financial compliance with relevant regulatory requirements including the UK Charity Commission and financial reporting standards.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and records for audit and statutory reporting.

Grant Management and Reporting

  • Support grant financial management and reporting in line with donor requirements and organisational policies.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports for relevant donors according to agreed timelines.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate financial information clearly to internal teams, board members, and external partners where required.
  • Support donor and stakeholder engagement by ensuring high quality financial reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the nonprofit, development, or social impact sector.
  • Experience supporting financial reporting, and day to day financial management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and multiple reporting timelines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel for financial tracking and analysis.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with experience coordinating with leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and in multicultural or cross jurisdictional environments.
  • A demonstrated interest in social justice, legal empowerment, or rights-based programming is an advantage.
