The Role

iProbono is seeking an accomplished and strategic Development Manager to lead our fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in shaping and executing successful fundraising strategies within the non-profit sector and driving sustainable income growth. This role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic professional to make a significant impact and grow into a Development Director position.

Responsibilities

  1. Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy in collaboration with iProbono’s leadership team, aligning with the organisation’s strategic goals and programmatic priorities.
  2. Donor Development and Relationship Management: Grow and diversify iProbono’s donor base by identifying and cultivating relationships with high net-worth individuals, philanthropic institutions, and strategic partners.
  3. Aim to secure at least three new major donors within an agreed timeframe.
  4. Donor Stewardship and Reporting: Maintain strong relationships with existing donors, ensuring timely and high-quality grant reporting. Support our Research and Impact team in monitoring and evaluation processes to capture impact for donor communications.
  5. Fundraising Events and Campaigns: Lead the planning and execution of targeted
  6. fundraising events and campaigns, working closely with the communications team to ensure effective messaging and outreach.
  7. Strategic Communications and Relationships: Represent iProbono at donor meetings, external events, and board-level discussions; steward the relationship with iProbono’s Development Board.
  8. Financial Planning and Budgeting: Work closely with the CEO, operations and finance teams to ensure fundraising targets align with financial planning. Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and donor-specific financial reports where required.
  9. Regional and Sectoral Insight (Desirable): Bring knowledge of, or experience of working in South Asia and/or within the fields of justice, legal empowerment, or capacity-building. Familiarity with the donor landscape in these areas is a plus.

Skills and experience

  1. Proven Track Record in Fundraising: At least 5–7 years of experience in fundraising and development with demonstrated success in securing funding from major donors, philanthropic institutions, or high net-worth individuals.
  2. Strategic Thinking and Execution: Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies, set targets, and deliver results within agreed timelines.
  3. Exceptional Communication and Relationship-Building Skills: Confident and persuasive communicator, able to build trust with donors, board members, and external stakeholders. Experience presenting at senior levels, including boards and donor forums.
  4. Excellent Writing and Storytelling Ability: Strong writing skills to develop compelling proposals, donor reports, and impact narratives tailored to varied audiences.
  5. Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and reporting in the nonprofit sector. Ability to translate programmatic goals into fundable, costed initiatives.
  6. Project and Event Management: Experience managing donor events, fundraising campaigns, or public engagement initiatives, with strong organisational and planning skills.
  7. Sector Knowledge (Preferred): An understanding and empathy with the cause iProbono represent, human rights, and the social justice sector. Familiarity with development trends and funder priorities in these areas is desirable.
  8. Regional Insight (Desirable): Knowledge of or experience working in South Asia, and sensitivity to political, cultural, and legal contexts in the region.
  9. Collaborative and Self-Directed: A proactive team player who thrives in a dynamic, cross-border environment. Comfortable working independently and managing multiple workstreams.
