Board Member
Hopebound
Organization Overview
Hopebound is a non-profit organization committed to revolutionizing access to mental health care for adolescents from marginalized communities. We are seeking a small but mighty group of dedicated and talented people who are passionate about advancing our mission and vision.
Hopebound ensures adolescents, centering those with marginalized identities, can access the mental health care they deserve. We provide high-touch, low-cost services and leverage emerging master’s and doctoral level clinicians as our providers to increase our capacity, decrease clients’ financial barriers to care, and take part in positively shaping the therapists of tomorrow.
Role Overview
Hopebound’s Board of Directors is a governing board with legal and fiduciary responsibility to the organization. Members of the Board of Directors should develop a deep understanding of Hopebound’s mission, vision, strategies and impact, and consistently attend quarterly board meetings. We ask that all board members dedicate a minimum of one year, with a standard term of two years.
Board members should also volunteer their expertise, stature, and time to help Hopebound in the following ways:
- Serving as a passionate advocate for Hopebound and adolescent mental health in the community and at large by potentially engaging elected officials, speaking at events, sharing their commitment in the media, and connecting with stakeholders and champions.
- The Board of Directors must provide broad fiscal oversight, including the adoption of an annual budget, quarterly review of revenue and expenses, and review of tax forms and audits. Board members are expected to serve in a fiduciary capacity, utilizing their judgment and discretion for the benefit of Hopebound.
- Champion Hopebound’s work to develop partnerships that result in high-quality programs, policies, impact, and growth
- Identify and evaluate prospects, cultivate and solicit gifts, actively support development programs, and offer personal acknowledgments to donors and volunteers.
- Make a personally significant financial gift to Hopebound annually. It is requested that board members make Hopebound one of their top three philanthropic contributions. At least a portion of a board member’s financial gift should be made within the first quarter of the fiscal year.
