Grant Writer (Contract)

Location: Remote within the United States – Atlanta, GA metro area preferred

Compensation: $30/hour

Job Type: Contract / Part-Time (up to 30 hours/month, will vary)

What we do:

Hopebound works to revolutionize access to mental health support for young people from historically marginalized communities.

Hopebound ensures adolescents, centering those with marginalized identities, receive the accessible, high-quality, culturally competent, and child-centered mental health care they deserve. We utilize emerging master’s and doctoral level clinicians as our providers, many of whom share the background of our youth, and focus on providing them with expert training to ensure that the low cost of their services does not translate to a lower quality of care.

The role:

Hopebound is looking for an organized, self-driven, and community-centered part-time Grant Writer to join our team for a contract-based part-time role. The Grant Writer will be responsible for preparing proposals and grant applications that increase investment in Hopebound’s mission and programs. The Grant Writer will also be responsible for creating a written bank of commonly utilized responses to grant questions. This part-time contract role (up to 30 hours per month, will vary) will work directly with and report to Hopebound’s Executive Director.

Key responsibilities:

  • Draft grant proposals by analyzing proposal requirements and providing draft text that is concise and persuasive, soliciting and incorporating feedback and suggestions.
  • Generate complete application packages and collect required supporting documents in response to Requests for Proposals.
  • Submit written materials to the Executive Director in advance of grant deadlines with sufficient time for revision and rewrite.
  • Assist with grant reports and post-submission requests for clarification, supporting documentation, and compliance documentation.
  • Create–and update ongoing–a bank of commonly utilized responses to grant questions.

Additional responsibilities: (dependent upon contractor availability/capacity)

  • Utilize grant research tools to identify new funding opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a system to track proposals, RFP's, and other materials, ensuring all deadlines are met.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for accessible mental health care and a basic knowledge of the mental health care industry.
  • 1-2 years work experience writing grants for a non-profit or educational organization.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills in line with Hopebound’s unique voice.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to manage-up to a senior leader.
  • Comfort in interpreting instructions furnished in a variety of formats (written, oral, voice memos, etc.).
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively, independently, and with limited oversight.
  • Ability to exercise discretion while handling confidential information.
  • A focus on delivering content that is on-time, of high-quality, with attention to detail to ensure the project and all deliverables are on time.
  • An investment in youth-focused organizations, ideally those who work with youth who hold marginalized identities, including but not limited to being people of color, from a low-income background, and/or being a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Flexibility and adaptability as work requirements change.
