FreeWorld is a fully remote, tech-enabled, nonprofit organization in the US that helps individuals affected by the justice system obtain high-income careers to end the cycle of recidivism and generational poverty brought on by our country's mass incarceration problem.

At FreeWorld, our mission is to end generational poverty and recidivism through economic mobility. We use a tech-forward approach to get returning citizens (folks with a criminal record) into living wage jobs–at scale. We’re focused on trucking jobs at the moment, but are building a platform that will expand well beyond one industry. We’re extremely proud of our 23x social ROI, but have aspirations to 10x that. Job Description

FreeWorld's Government Partnerships function drives scalable growth at FreeWorld by systematically leveraging government funding streams. Our government partnerships enable us to serve more returning citizens while reducing costs. By embedding our innovative technology and wraparound services within state and local workforce systems, we aim to optimize outcomes for returning citizens and strengthen the US workforce system’s ability to support this population effectively.

As the Account Manager, Government Partnerships, you will lead and expand FreeWorld's relationships with state and local government agencies in your assigned region. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to grow our partnerships while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with current partners. As an early member of the Government Partnerships team, you will play a critical role in building the foundational systems and processes needed to scale FreeWorld’s impact across the country.

What you’ll do (Job Responsibilities)

• Own end-to-end partnership management for your assigned geographic region (multiple states)
• Develop and execute regional expansion strategies to grow FreeWorld's government partnerships
• Build and maintain strong relationships with state and local workforce development agencies
• Design and implement scalable systems and processes for partnership management
• Track partnership health metrics and create data-driven recommendations for improvement
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful program delivery
• Document best practices and contribute to the team's continuous improvement

What you’ll have (Minimum Qualifications)

Technical

• 4+ years of experience in account management, partnerships, or business development
• Strong track record of managing complex external relationships
• Experience building and implementing systematic processes
• Proficiency with CRM systems and partnership management tools
• Demonstrated ability to manage joint programs
• Experience in workforce development, government relations, or related fields

Non-Technical

• Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills
• Strategic thinking with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Exceptional project management and organizational abilities
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Radically non-judgmental - we firmly believe that everyone is worth more than the worst thing they have ever done
• Deep commitment to social justice and criminal justice reform

Bonus Points if… (Preferred Qualifications) ‍‍

• Lived experience in the criminal justice system
• Experience working with state or local government agencies
• Background in workforce development or criminal justice
• Experience working in a tech-based organization
• Experience building partnerships from scratch

FreeWorld is a 100% US-based remote company. You may work anywhere in the U.S. with a great internet connection that is quiet and free from distractions! Our operating hours are Monday - Friday, 9 am - 6 pm Central Time.

7. Last but not least, we talk to a few of the folks you worked with, and if all goes well, we agree on terms.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position. Compensation is based on experience, but we are targeting the compensation range provided below.
