About Free Our Vote:

Millions of Americans with past felony convictions are legally eligible to vote but face uncertainty due to complex and varied state laws. Free Our Vote is a data-driven non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization that uses technology and data to re-enfranchise people with felony convictions. Our mission is to empower these individuals by providing accessible, accurate information about their voting rights and, where necessary, assisting them in navigating legal barriers to exercising those rights. Founded in 2020, we have already made significant strides in re-enfranchising tens of thousands of individuals and aim to extend our impact to millions more by 2024.

Position Overview:

Free Our Vote is currently seeking an experienced Executive Director. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and will work closely with the co-founders, as well as liaise with a team of dedicated volunteers and external partners. This role offers the opportunity for the Executive Director to eventually build up and manage their own team, overseeing a suite of operations within the organization. The position provides flexibility in working hours. This role is remote within the United States.

Key Responsibilities:

● Lead fundraising efforts to support the organization's mission and strategic goals, including cultivating relationships with individual donors, foundations, partner organizations, and corporate sponsors.

● Develop and implement strategies to scale up Free Our Vote's impact, both geographically and programmatically, in line with our goal of re-enfranchising more than a hundred thousand individuals by 2024.

● Manage the organization's budget and financial resources effectively, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial operations.

● Coordinate the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to address felony disenfranchisement, leveraging technical expertise and partnerships to maximize impact.

● Serve as a spokesperson for Free Our Vote, representing the organization in media interviews, public speaking engagements, and advocacy efforts.

● Provide leadership and support to the team of volunteers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications:

● 5-6+ years of experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations, with a proven track record of securing major gifts and grants.

● Experience in scaling up non-profits and leading organizational growth initiatives.

● Proficient in leveraging existing connections to meet and succeed expectations.

● Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience managing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.

● Background in a technical field (e.g., data science, investment banking, software development) preferred.

● Strong understanding and/or personal experience with social justice issues, particularly as they relate to felony disenfranchisement and criminal justice reform.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
