Strategic Partnerships Officer
FinAbility
About FinAbility
FinAbility is a high-growth, survivor-led nonprofit startup on a mission to financially empower survivors of domestic abuse. Since launching in 2021, we’ve supported over 50,000 survivors through trauma-informed financial education, mentorship, and advocacy. We've experienced 300% year-over-year revenue growth for the past four years—and we’re just getting started.
While our team is based in Oregon, we’re now expanding nationally to reach more survivors and partner organizations across the U.S.
We’re scrappy and entrepreneurial at heart, thoughtfully challenging traditional models of philanthropy and financial services. We also believe in doing this work with humility, integrity, and courage—always centering the voices and needs of survivors.
If you're excited by building meaningful partnerships from the ground up and unlocking resources to fuel exponential growth—you’ll thrive here.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Strategic Partnerships Officer to lead our relationship-building efforts with financial institutions and women in finance with a focus on New York City (NYC). This is a remote position, but the candidate must be able to attend regular in-person meetings and events in NYC.
At its core, this is a fundraising role focused on building a strong community of mission-aligned champions and partner organizations who can help fuel FinAbility’s next stage of growth. You’ll spend your time cultivating relationships, securing sponsorships, and hosting high-impact events—like lunch & learns, domestic violence simulations, and intimate roundtables—to raise awareness and deepen engagement.
We’re looking for someone who is entrepreneurial, self-directed, and energized by building something from the ground up. This role is ideal for a strong communicator who can confidently navigate the financial sector and is passionate about advancing economic justice for survivors of domestic abuse.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead our NYC presence: Cultivate and manage relationships with banks, investment firms, credit unions, and finance professionals across New York City.
- Secure and steward mission-aligned partnerships: Work with the CEO to identify, pitch, and secure collaborations, sponsorships, and funding opportunities.
- Plan and host relationship-building events: Organize awareness-raising events like lunch & learns, domestic violence simulations, and intimate roundtables to engage potential partners.
- Attend conferences and represent FinAbility: Travel to key industry conferences and events to expand our reach and develop strategic relationships.
- Work cross-functionally: Partner with our Program Officer and Survivor Advisory Board to align partnerships with community needs and organizational priorities.
- Track and report outcomes: Maintain partnership data in our CRM and generate regular progress reports.
Qualifications
We welcome candidates from a variety of professional and lived experiences. The ideal candidate brings many of the following:
- Lived experience as a survivor and/or a personal connection to our missio
- 3+ years of experience in partnerships, fundraising, corporate relations, or business development
- Strong network or working knowledge of NYC’s finance sector
- Exceptional relationship-building, event planning, and communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable taking initiative and navigating ambiguity
- Scrappy and resourceful—able to make things happen with limited resources
- Familiarity with using CRM systems and digital tools to manage relationships and track progress—we use Bloomerang, Airtable, Mailchimp, Calendly, Webflow, and Google Workspace
Benefits & Perks
- Competitive salary ($80,000–$92,000), with future salary increases tied to organizational growth
- Remote work stipend
- All-expenses-paid travel to Oregon for major team gatherings and organizational events
